There was two or 3 damaged pads where the RTC/Battery (ODIN) sits. They are fixed now and it POSTS but still more issues which it did not have before. It says something about the BIOS checksum failing and system halted. I can get into bios settings but it cannot detect hard disks when using a …

It worked fine but was losing the bios settings due to the battery/clock ODIN (like Dallas). Anyway, stupidly I removed the ODIN clock damaging it in the process and then it would no longer boot. I'm away on holiday now but when I get back I will try the cheap USB MIDI using Linux. I also just ordered a brand new Roland UM-One MK2. This should definitely be one of the best I guess.

Interesting read. Sounds like a lot of work to modify my adapter if it is indeed the case which it probably is. Can you recommend me an inexpensive adapter which I can use ? The Roland one looks nice but I don't want to spend the best part of 40 Euros on a USB MIDI adapter.

I think the issue with the one I have is actually PROGRAMMING the MT-32. In a sense that games which don't send a Midi Message* appear fine - Dune, Lotus III etc.. but games that do Midi Message* do not work properly and show no Midi Message* - Ski or Die, Monkey Island II, Police Quest II, Wing …

I've tried native OSX Dosbox and also native ScummVM. Both have issues with Lucasarts and Sierra games which use the Midi Message and also Playmid to emulate GM gets stuck. It seems the usb device is not maybe 100% compatible ?

Ok all sorted. My Gameport to MIDI adapter was crap. Had another (different) one on order which arrived today and set it up and everything works great. AWE-32 works in supported games, MT-32 works in supported games and General Midi (using MTGM patch) works fine too.
