I have older card based on AZT2316 and what worked for me was widely available vide-cdd.sys You don't have to specify additional parameters apart from device name "MSCD000" (or whatever else you want, it must be the same as parameter for mscdex in autoexec.bat).

From my observation. Game sounds much better on integrated YMF701 (intel TC430HX) - SoundBlaster Pro settings, than on Sounblaster Vibra 16s (CT2800) on the same motherboard. It seems that this game has bug in SB16/AWE32 driver similiar to this in Jazz Jackrabit, or I just have bad version of a game …

It think that under label there is Opti 82c829 chip, so probably those drivers will be suitable. Second one is Opti 82c925 so look here . Integrated IDE slot is just for CDROM. In Amiga world many people upgraded their "turbo" cards from 68040 to 68060. You may ask on their forums. For example Apollo 1240 in standard configuration had MC68040 40MHz.

I think you don't need XT-IDE controller for XT-IDE BIOS. It will use your existing one (onboard or on multi-io card).

Can you enter in to Promise controler BIOS at start-up ? I think you should. Maybe it's worth to try different drivers ? I don't remember exactly if Promise controllers also needs paired BIOS/Driver (same major version). Highpoint ones definitely needs this.

I'm using network cards in DOS with Etherdfs. It only needs packet driver. Works like a charm, but only with default IRQ card settings. Not only with this card - I observed this behavior with few of them.
