You're right, Catalyst 6.2 is the last one. Catalyst 6.2 for Windows 2000/XP supports the X1xxx series up to the X1900, wonder if there's some hidden support in the 98SE/ME driver. 😜

Hmm, I wasn't able to get the X800XT drivers working under 98SE. OF course the system was running the very unsupported Intel 965G. The devices were found, just the driver refused to load (locked up on boot). I'm now successfully running a Radeon X800 XT PCIe on an Asus P5B Deluxe (Intel P965). …

The ASRock 939Dual-SATA2 are using the ULi M1695 NB and ULi M1567 SB, so I can't talk for everybody. I will test some Intel chipsets soon. Attached a picture of the X800 XT run.

I'm using a Panasonic PanaFlat LC50S LCD monitor from 1999 with 1024x768 as native resolution. LOD tweaking is done at driver level, I used RivaTuner (as in the ol' days) to assist me. The windows doesn't hide anything except the default 3DMark settings.

I'm using the standard "PCI standard PCI-to-PCI bridge" driver that Windows installs by itself. The hard disk is also running from an onboard JMB360 SATAII PCIe controller that actually have Windows 98 drivers. You can always try to use an external DAC from the SPDIF header, but be aware that not all equipment likes the signalling levels (I think it's 5V).

Stole a Pentium 4 M 1.6GHz from a laptop I got and put it in my Asus P4C800-E Deluxe motherboard. It's an older stepping than the Pentium 4 3.06GHz I used until now so it tops out at 2.76GHz 12x230MHz (it runs at lowest multiplier, dont have any clue how to change it) using 1.8V when benchmarking.
