You could always just run Linux on it. I'm dual booting Ubuntu 14.04 and Windows XP SP3 on my Socket 939 setup. It's far from being a useless platform. You can do quite a lot of stuff on it and it's a pretty quiet system too.

I actually have one too. They used very good capacitors in those units. Mine has Panasonic and Nichicons in it. I suspect StarTech will cheap out and use CapXon or Teapo capacitors.

Another solution could perhaps be to daisy chain two PSUs. I know some Lian-Li cases and Cooler Master cases allow you to mount two ATX PSUs.

Okay, that should be able to produce >30FPS. It must be Unreal's terrible D3D implementation then. You could always try and get a Glide wrapper and see if that improves things.

I found some Gateway OEM drivers and most of the issues disappeared. Performance was a little nicer too.
