Black screen in Windows 3.11? (DOSBox-X)

Whenever I try to boot windows 3.11 in Dosbox-X, it only results in a black screen every time. Installation runs fine but the actual os doesn't. I got the drivers and followed the guide from here: Windows 3.1x DOSBox Guide. attached is my dosbox config file.

But seems that DOSEMU is faster since it doesn't emulate a cpu so it's fast. But dosbox is more feature rich and easier to use.

Why isn't there a version of DOSEMU in Windows? I mean it already supports amd64 and such but why no win version?

How about a 7970? Is it supported? If not, either maybe a 7770 or 7790

Is a 7770 or 7790 good? Also, for the CPU I may be using a e8600. Is there even a list of compatible xp cards for both and and nvidia?

Problem now is a vid card. Will a Voodoo5 5500 AGP OR PCI work? If not what is the fastest yet compatible card? But if I use a voodoo2 in SLI, can I pass through the onboard graphics of the P4i65g?

Is the as rock P4i65G good? Also is it possible to install win98 directly on a sata HDD? or just use a sata-to-IDE bridge. And I am also interested with Enable48bitLBA since I don't want to waste the 900 something GB since I may be using a 1TB hard drive.

Also I can play the game crash free using the emucr.com svn builds of dosbox. Just make sure you have fixed cycles around 60k or it will not work

Well, it seems that months later I finally figured out the problem. Apparently It crashes when the cycles are set to auto but after setting it to fixed 60k cycles it doesn't crash anymore.....for now! BTW I used the patched exe.

"DYNX86: cannot run code in this page" implies a problem with the dynamic core. That is why I suggested using core=normal in your dosbox.conf . Have you tried that yet? I tried it and after a few loads I get this: You say it happens "after a few loads" but your caption says "I always get this …

It runs but crashes when I load a save game multiple times. With an error saying: DYNX86: cannot run code in this page.
