All other Roland synths from this era use universal transformers (they had since 1999). You can ask Roland US for confirmation but I'd wager to say the SC-D70 is the same.

I picked up two Roland synths over the past month - a JD-990 and M-OC1 - and those both had pretty nasty batteries. Not sure what was up at the time but I haven't had a single piece of Roland gear that DIDN'T have a totally screwed up CR2032 battery...

That's really bizarre that you're getting noise from Sound Canvas VA, it should be noiseless... at least it was when I used it. What drum map issues did you experience by the way? I have an SC-8850 so I can test to see if the issue occurs on real hardware, too.

More good luck out in thrift shops! Got a MIDISPORT 4x4 for $4 at a Goodwill (same one I got my PVM at... good luck there I guess), so I can finally ditch the cluttered mess of UM-1s I have and run everything that isn't USB MIDI through a single source 😀
