Tried more 939 chips... so far results are : San Diego 939 (3700+) = working Winchester 939 (3200+) = working NewCastle 939 (3500+) = board doesn't POST ClawHammer 939 (3500+) = board doesn't POST

3.4V is too much in my opinion. I would not go above 3.2V for benchmarks and even a bit less for normal operation. As for the 300 MHz goal - it is not as easy as it sounds. At the moment I'm working on another round of CPU benchmarks. The plan is to test (relatively) new software on old CPUs - so windows 7 x64 and plenty of RAM (at least 4GB) is a must have. Quick test of FIC SD11 and Athlon 550. Bought as "pile of junk - for spare parts or gold extraction". POST successfully at the first attempt, not bad. 😎 Maybe I will put V2 SLI in and create nice win98 PC.

I'd like to find more details on the CPU<->Northbridge<->DRAM differences of say the 440BX vs. VIA MVP3 or Alladin V. On paper, all have 64bit wide datapaths and 100Mhz bus speed. So if there are memory bottlenecks between the typical K6-3 vs. a P-II/P-III it must be in the timings and efficiencies …

I performed quite extensive benchmarks of K6-III and it is slower than PIII or K7 in all applications I tried, including non-gaming stuff. CPU benchmark - part I. (1995 - 1999)

New stuff 2x Opteron 8384 - eight K10 cores in total @ 2.7 GHz. 2x Radeon 8500 LE 128 MB by Hercules. I really like these Hercules VGAs... very good looking and perfect build quality.
