Re: Unisys CWD 486DX2 66mhz

That's a neat little machine, I have a very similar system also made by Unisys. I think yours uses 72 pin memory if my eyes are working correctly. How much RAM will it take? The only thing that bugs me about mine is it is stuck with 16MB max (which is a lot for DOS but about half what I want for a …

Evert wrote: That's a pretty nice budget soldering station! Can you use Hakko 930 tips on the iron as well? Not sure, but according to this vid, it can 🤣. Around 17:08 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0GdV7XBae74 Guy is a bit harsh, but you can't blame him because he got highend stuff.

Re: Recommended Soldering Kit

I recently got a AOYUE 936 Soldering Station. It's a cheap clone of the discontinued Hakko 930. So far it does well for soldering circuitboards. Only thing is that it's not calibrated according to the label, so you need to add up about 50 more degrees (celsius) to get the desired temperature. …

Re: Baby K6-III+ Rebuild

Nice one! The K6-III was my next step up after a 486. Many fond memories of it. It was also my first custom PC I bought with the money I earned in my teenage years at the computerstore where I was an employee selling them 🤣. 😎

Re: Unisys CWD 486DX2 66mhz

Got a KFC CA6013DS 9 inch VGA monitor from a local auction for just only 10 euro's :). It was kinda dim, so I removed the casing and checked the inside, adjusted the G2 slightly. It is powered by the Unisys's IEC female port :). Excuse me for the poor evening lighting. It's hard to focus on the …

BTC 5100C arrowkeys swap mod

I just posted a topic about swapping keys in pure Dos with a TSR last week. But since that is no option I have taken te courage to mod the keyboard itself. Bought a cheap yihua 936 soldering station and took a picture of the circuitboard and trace the paths of the akwardly placed arrow right and up …

Re: Pure dos keyboard remapping for games?

in DOS
It's PS/2 AT. I couldn't skip cause of the cheap price. It's rubberdome and the overal buildquality is quite nice. Thanks for the info. I think I might choose for the rewiring option.

Re: Pure dos keyboard remapping for games?

in DOS
I think the "pure DOS" part of the topic precludes the use of DOSBox. What games should that TSR be used with? That would determine how the TSR would have to be set up and whether it is possible at all. I was hoping for one that is for all games. The reason is that I try to avoid modding my new …

Pure dos keyboard remapping for games?

in DOS
Anyone know a TSR that allows you to remap specific keys? For example a,w,s,d > arrow left, arrow up, arrow down, arrow right. Only thing I found was using ansi.sys, but I'm not sure if a dos application will overrule that. Also, I found some flat assembly code, but I'm not quite a programmer... and …

Re: Unisys CWD 486DX2 66mhz

Hmm ok I'll have a lookout on those cpu's. Meanwhile doing homework: http://web.inter.nl.net/hcc/J.Steunebrink/amd5x86.htm I might try to fit an AWE64 gold :) but it's about an 1/3 inch too long. Could consider extending the panel a bit with a segment, but need to extend the floppydrive and …

Re: Unisys CWD 486DX2 66mhz

That seems to be a nice system! If you decide to upgrade be sure to get a 5V DX4 CPU or a DX5/586 "upgrade kit" where the CPU has its own power converter because I do not think your board supports 3.3V. Check what voltage the CPU you have now run at first in any case because there are AMD 3.3V DX2- …

Unisys CWD 486DX2 66mhz

Finally got this nice little unit. Maybe replace the HD with a CFcard. CPU maybe upgrade to DX4 100mhz or even an AM5x86 133mhz, though need to cut a hole in the slideable rack on the right of floppydrive to make some clearance for the cpu coolblock/fan + drilling holes in the casing above …
