The 4850 will be a great card for that system. Who cares if it will be CPU limited. The card is cheap and you won't have to worry about needing a faster card for it in the future.

A move I was going to make in the future was to swap the motherboard, probably after a case, not sure yet. But as a whole are most I/O shields compatible with most motherboards? Way back in the day most ATX motherboards had a standard I/O panel layout so you really didn't have to worry too much …

If you want a 775 setup for some retro action, you will want one with an Intel 865 or Via PT880 Pro chipset as there are drivers available for Win9x. If you want AGP for video, then the boards I have seen are limited to DDR1. If you want PCI-e for video, they are available with DDR2 support. …

1. Can you see any physical damage to the card? It could be something as simple as a damaged trace or a bad solder joint. 2. It is fairly easy to write a program to allocate the proper amount of RAM based on what the program does. You have to do nothing special for variables. The only real thing you have to worry about is arrays, but that is pretty simple as long as you know what the program is going to do and how much …

You can actually upgrade the RAM to 28MB by using 2x 16MB simms if you have them available. Smaller ones will of course work as well.

Yeah, try the AWEFlsh.exe to see if that fixes it. It will disable the IDE port, but should make the card usable as an AWE64 if it is a corrupt eeprom which is what it sounds like.

Probably better off looking for a SB16 or AWE64 then I guess, then again you seen the prices for those cards :) I have a bunch of CT4520 that I ended up with without even trying. Most of them came with other stuff. The AWE64 Gold! cards are crazy expensive, but the value cards are not that much at …

The 3670 has the same main chip as the AWE64. What drivers are you using? Is there any physical damage to the card? scratched traces, mangled chip legs, missing components, etc? It could also be that the card has a corrupted eeprom. You can flash it with the AWE64 eeprom update, but that will render …

You might need to get a Promise S150 PCI SATA controller because they have Win9x drivers. The early VIA SATA controllers were very, very, very, very buggy. Chances are that it will not work properly with that large of a drive... or even detect it at all. It is a socket 754 system so I would think …
