Generally, Smartdrive can make things better, but not worse (unless there is a bug). The only reason to turn it off would be due to the memory it consumes. However, there are plenty of ways to generate enough upper memory blocks to shove it there and leave enough conventional memory free.

I don't recall problems with the Audigy 2 ZS in other PCI slots. I don't run it in my first slot either. Is the card even detected at all in the device manager? Even without installing the driver, it should at least be visible, as "unknown device" or "multimedia device".

You know Windows can do this natively right? Just as long as you install each OS in sequence. Install DOS/Win3x Install Win98 and select Keep existing system (or something like that) That's the easiest way to do it. What I cannot understand is USB 3.1 on PCIe 2.0 x1. PCIe 2.0 x1 theoretical bandwidth is 5Gbps, just like USB 3.0. USB 3.1 is 10Gbps.
