Why ? Good point, the main idea would be to be able to play/compose existing SPC music on a PC (-> think of Adlib Tracker, ImpulseTracker) or to create new homebrew games that could utilize that sound board. I've looked into these cards and they are interesting for DOS AFAIK. VGA Museum has some Quake benchmarks, it does pretty well if I recall. Separte cards for the consumer market are rare, you do see them offered as pulls from Siemens / NCR / medical machines, hence there is little info concerning …

BTW why some Maui 1.0 cards have and some don't have WaveBlaster connector? Only time I saw a picture of a Maui with the header was when somebody soldered one to try out what it does. I thought it was an abandoned idea and that there was only one revision. Do you have any docs/info on this? AFAIK …

You need to connect some pins on the parallel port for a reset. Quick Google: "Connect these pins: 1-5-10, 2-11, 3-17, 4-12, 6-16, 7-13, 8-14, 9-15, 18-25" I know that there are complete guides out there, maybe this can get you started.

The BIOS will set a 400 line resolution, no matter what you do. No TSR will influence this. Yeah, this is normal behaviour because the TSR preserves the aspect ratio of the original resolution. Afaik, it can only scale neatly between resolutions that are multiples of each other, and since 1024p is not a multiple of 320p, you get the borders to make up the rest of the screen space. Ah, on …
