I need to put my Mushkin ram through memtest, to see if it's bad at all, because even at 5:4 high latency fsb divider @ 213mhz, it causes consistent ati driver failures in 3dmark2001. Well, I'm going to find out, picked up a card with 8x8MB chips for €5. Speed and bit-wise the same as the V3. My friend said it might work, as the higher capacity chips just have more address lines active. It can't make things worse at least 🙄

Do you know of a cheap vram donor device? I've been trying to find something with the same ram chips, but not had much luck yet. My friend definitely has the skills and tools, but that doesn't help if we don't have a donor.

I expect it does not. While that might explain the screen going off, would it explain the system hard locking? It didn't respond to any commands. Edit - looks like it's my card failing, actually.

That did give me an idea though, which actually fixed it, but I'm not sure if it would be of any help to anyone else. I had a backup of a previous installation, and copied the unreal.ini & default.ini, now it works properly. Weird.
