Re: Tech demos - general discussion

Thanks for the new WIP and the Matrox G400 demo fix. I got it to work on Windows 7 64bit OS but I had to add "Emulate heap" to the compatibility sdb file in addition to "Fault Tolerant Heap". Otherwise it crashed during loading. I guess compatibility options depend on the host OS. Matrox Parhelia …

Re: Tech demos - general discussion

Teleguy, thanks for your help. I got the G200 demo to work on my Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit os with Nvidia GT230M. Test results are below. Test Results: Without a compatibility profile I could not get the G200 tech demo to work no matter what I tried. profile 1 on its own, application crashes with …

Re: Tech demos - general discussion

Teleguy, I tried the SingleProcAffinity compatibility fix that you posted but could not get G200 tech demo to run with WineD3D or DDrawCompat. I posted the DDrawCompat log below, but as you can see the log is not very helpful. Dege's next WIP build is my only hope at the moment  . Process …

STMicroElectronics Kyro II Tech Demos (DX7) (I think this was the chipset of old Hercules 3D cards) http://soggi.eu/video-cards/tech-demos.htm http://web.archive.org/web/20020207025456/http://eu.st.com/stonline/prodpres/graphic/kyro/download/temple/temple.htm All 4 of the demos crash via dgVoodoo …

Re: Tech demos - general discussion

Wow, G200 tech demo video looks great. I am glad that it did not turn out to be a simple demo with a 3D soda can on a table  . Water shaders look great for a DX5 demo. It provides a good opportunity to fix DX5 related bugs in dgVoodoo WIP31. I had no luck getting the G200 tech demo to work on …

Re: Tech demos - general discussion

Sounds good. I will wait for the new WIP version. Just to let you know there are two more Matrox demos which are having issues with dgVoodoo WIP31. I wrote them below. Matrox G200 Tech Demo (DX5) http://soggi.eu/video-cards/tech-demos.htm http://toastytech.com/files/Is3Engine.zip This G200 demo …

Re: Tech demos - general discussion

When I used UCyborg's grphmfc.dll fix with dgVoodoo on Final Reality, I noticed that the demo momentarily drops back to desktop when switching from 2D to 3D scenes. This does not happen when I natively run Final Reality with its original DLL. I think dgVoodoo should follow the original directx …

Re: Tech demos - general discussion

Dege that's great news. Thanks. Does Environmental Bump Mapping work in Matrox G400 Demo via dgVoodoo? I have all the font files (*.fon and *.ttf files) from Windows XP SP3 CD's i386 folder and Windows 98 SE CD's cab files. Is there a way I can identify the font that Matrox Demo is trying to find? …

Re: Tech demos - general discussion

Matrox G400 Tech Demo (Directx 6) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P_YiZzi9PkU Sadly, it does not work with dgVoodoo WIP31. It starts and shows a black screen with dgVoodoo logo, first second of the music plays and it crashes. This is the only Matrox demo that has a built-in option that allows it to …

Re: Tech demos - general discussion

UCyborg, thanks for getting the ball rolling on Final Reality fixes. Its file and folder structure looks similar to 3DMark99. I am guessing that it is an earlier version of the same engine. Based on your explanations, it seems like it needs a patch similar to the one you created for 3DMark99 to get …

Re: DllMain Thread

Teleguy, Thanks for the compatibility fix. It worked for me. UCyborg, Thanks for the updated/enhanced fix and the detailed explanations. I am using your fix now. When combined with your DLL patch, I was able to run 3DMark99 Max both with and without dgVoodoo. I also downloaded the Compatibility …

Re: DllMain Thread

UCyborg, I tried the patch you made for 3DMark99 Max, but I am unable to get the application to start on my Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit with GT230M laptop. I just installed the program in admin mode and applied your patch. I did not apply any compatibility settings. When I run the application I get an …

Final Reality Directx 5 Benchmarking Software https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E7uvTCN_ylA This is a benchmarking tool (similar to 3dmark) for Directx 5!! It does not work with dgVoodoo WIP31. It prints out verbose.txt file that contains the following error: PROGRAM ERROR: allocateScreenBuffer: …

Tech demos - general discussion

I tested the latest dgVoodoo2 WIP31 with DX7 and DX8 tech demos from Nvidia . Results are listed below. These are all of the DX7 and DX8 Nvidia tech demos that I could find. Let me know if there are any other ones. Gothic Chapel (DX7) http://www.nvidia.com/object/demo_gothic.html Demo does not run …

Re: dgVoodoo 2 for DirectX 11

Dege, I know that people reported this previously, but if you have time, please take a look at Half-Life 1. It reports 0MB graphics card memory and does not start. Starting it in Windows Xp compatibility mode with admin rights makes it start but then it does not hook dgvoodoo DLLs. I wrote the …

Re: WIP versions

Dege, I don't know if you had the chance to look into depth buffer for Reshade3 yet, but there is something I want to mention regarding Splinter Cell 1. Splinter Cell 1 does not provide depth buffer access to Reshade3. You can visualize the depth buffer in Reshade3 by using the attached "ShowDepth. …

Re: WIP versions

I have a question. ReShade needs the access to the Depth Buffer for MXAO and other depth-based shaders like that. Some games do not provide the access and if they are multiplayer games is a good thing (to avoid cheats/tricks), but: 1) nowdays nobody plays old (pre)DX8 online titles at large 2) …

Re: WIP versions

I experienced some glitches on Morrowind GOTY GOG version with dgVoodoo WIP30 default settings. In the beginning of the game, when I was on the boat, there was flickering on character textures and house textures. Also, forcing 16:9 resolutions stretch the game (characters look fat, HUD stretches, …

Re: dgVoodoo Splinter Cell Games

This made me ponder. Such additional rendering passes could only be done "inside dgVoodoo" (if we stick to D3D11 rendering techniques). External post processors can only see the final frame image, including 2D HUD. While I don't want to include any game-specific thing into core dgVoodoo, for some …
