Re: Star Wars: The Last Jedi [WARNING: SPOILERS]

So basically with these new Star Wars movies, we have questionable plot (TFA was just a rehash of ANH), but good character dialog and development. Loved the Snoke death scene and the Luke end scene. The one really bad scene was Leia miraculously saving herself in space. Geez.

1. The eBay thread was also filled with people who proudly showed what they managed to get ahold of as well. Putting aside the questionable value to the community of people bragging about their 'good deals', this 'need' is easily met by the 'What new / retro hardware you bought today' thread(s). …

It's good that the shady thread is now closed. It is a marketplace, whether one disagrees or not. And a shady one at that too. Maybe scrutinizing someone as receiving commission for posting the eBay links here is being a bit too far fetched, but the notion cannot be entirely excluded. Vetz has been …

TECHNICALLY ... Vintage means: denoting something of high quality, especially something from the past or characteristic of the best period of a person's work. So an IBM model M keyboard is vintage, but a keytronics rubber dome affair of the same age is NOT. Quality is often subjective. That is …

I personally don't like vcfed as much because there was (not sure if it's still there anymore) a snobbish sentiment of what constitutes 'vintage'. It is not snobbish. You just happen to not agree with it, that does not make it snobbish. I happen to agree with them that Pentium 4 is NOT vintage, …

I fail to see how shutting down that thread will stop the trolls. Most of the long time trolls are still here, trolling in other areas of the site (with far less visibility). I personally don't like vcfed as much because there was (not sure if it's still there anymore) a snobbish sentiment of what …

Got a a Asus Rampage ii Gene for peanuts with a i7-920 on it's last legs. Was a D0 stepping so my guess it got the crap OC'd out of it on the included stock HSF. $20 x5650 and a Hyper 212 took care of those issues, the performance increase over my FX-8350 is noticable Curious, how did you conclude …

Because you're paying more money for "The ultimate Intel overclocking platform", motherboards with dual power connectors for extra overclocking stability (even single socket), when "normal server motherboards" like from supermicro only have 1 for single-socket, because more isn't needed. Most …

it is REALLY easy to drop a 771 xeon into a 775 socket. http://www.delidded.com/lga-771-to-775-adapter/ I'm not arguing that it's a hard task. I'm stating the fact that it is not physically compatible by default. Some people are reluctant to take a knife to their motherboard. Someone here posted …

Re: Bought this (Modern) hardware today

IMHO, Intel doesn't like to see xeon chips in "consumer" motherboards. They like to sell premium chipsets for those boards. This is because of the 771/775 era. Those boards are STILL useful as long as you aren't gaming. That means people upgrade their old systems with cheap xeons and don't buy new …

Since apparently the Rampage (original) Extreme is going for $200+, I figured getting the IV and V edition for around $150 was worth it. I got the Rampage V Extreme off eBay for suspiciously cheap, and low and behold it doesn't work. Would've raised issue with seller, but it was under warranty, so I …
