Well if you're sold on an FX for nGlide, then appear to be as confused as I am. Not software but sometimes if you cool a faulty chip with ice spray it'll work normally as long as it's cold. Maybe that way you can find the faulty chip?

SSE is not a problem. I have had a mobile Barton running on the Epox 8KTA3+ Pro with the latest BIOS. No fiddling, no problems (besides the southbridge stuff that's irrelevant with the usual fixes). Only breaking the 12.5x multiplier requires mods.

If it actually is a supercap I wouldn't replace it with a battery. Batteries have different charging characteristics and tend to react violently when charged wrong. Used as an RTC buffer on a mainboard the capacitance shouldn't be critical. A supercap with the correct voltage is just stops charging …

The package looks a lot like a supercapacitor to me. It isn't common but they were used to store CMOS data afaik.

I don't know the values either but I have the Epox variant and it needs a recap too. If you are ok with waiting a bit I can get it out of storage, make a list of capacitors for you to compare with your board and if it matches I can look up what suitable parts would cost.

The clockspeed of the PCX2 isn't derived from the PCI clock but if you overclock your PCI bus too much the cars won't work properly. Not all motherboards have PCI and FSB linked though. Some offer dividers, others have a fixed PCI clock.
