Swapped out an old Dell DVD Drive for a new Phillips DVD Drive. Installed some TNT2 Riva Graphics Card drivers. Will be replacing the old Compaq Motherboard with an Asus P4S8X board and P4.

OK I'll look for some cheapy CD's thanks. Looking at the machine it does have a floppy drive but not on my Win10 machine, so 1/2 way there! Thanks. How do I burn at a slow speed? It has been years since I remember doing it. Does windows have an option for that? Simple thing I know..

Thank you. I have a bootlog.txt now and at the bottom is Verdana, Webdings showing up.. How can I solve this? I'm guessing it can't find/load whatever, the fonts or .tif files. So I think I have found the culprit on the normal mode boot problem. I have the legit windows 98 discs but not sure where …

OK, Display Adapters: Intel (R) 82945G Express Chipset Family I have also ordered a 2GB RAM stick to replace the 2x512's that are in there currently, should make a small improvement at least for £3.

That 8400GS looks perfect. Would it be ok on a 250/275w PSU? Thank you so much. That card looks great. I see a few DVI to VGA. As it goes: Card connection>DVI to VGA> VGA Cable, do I need male dvi to female vga or what?

I'll see what I can find, thanks. I did have an 8600GT from EVGA, that ran Crysis semi OK 😀 My main PC has an i5, and a Gigabyte 1080ti (upgraded from a 980ti) at launch so that's where the money has gone.

OK thanks, Not having a lot of luck with either, either AGP only or expensive. Would an FX 5200 or 5500 be better than P4 by much? Can see the 5200's for around £15.
