Test another version of CPU-Z. I have an AMD Athlon 1 GHz Slot A with Orion core. With some versions it reports correct but some versions it says its a Pluto core.

K7 is in between Katmai and Coppermine in raw performance. The weak link, though, is the chipset. Neither AMD nor VIA ever really got it quite right.
