Re: Old games that had CD Audio tracks?

in DOS
I think it would be beneficial to list the number of CD audio tracks that have been found on a particular disc during your grep search. I didn't include it and don't plan to make this change, but agree it would be interesting. The challenge is re-integrating the results with the groups' additions, …

Re: Old games that had CD Audio tracks?

(Mods: thanks for the purging the noise. The thread subject asks for the presence of CDDA tracks as-is, be they in whatever form or use-case they fill. That's what everyone is trying to round up; and when extra details can be provided, then hey - that's even better) MAZter, 👍. Thanks (added)!

Re: Illgal GRP4 Call 5

oli1980, that build you picked is a fork. Can you try ripsaw8080's suggestion using an SVN build, which is the successor to the original DosBox version v0.74-3 you mentioned initially using? Filename is DOSBox r4471.7z , here: https://yesterplay.net/dosboxece/ EDIT: Sorry, make that DOSBox r4473.7z

Re: DOSBox-X branch

hail-to-the-ryzen, right, with two lookup tables defined (one for unsigned and the other signed), the need to adjust the 8-bit values (with xor or offsetting by 128) can be avoided and directly looked up as jmash suggested. Re: DOSBox ECE (for Windows & Linux)

I would like to request the conditional removal of a sanity check. That would enable me to post the script that creates the oversize image and makes few necessary changes to the game code I commented out the two lines you mentioned before building r4452, so please give that version a try. Yes, all …

Re: DOSBox ECE (for Windows & Linux)

Yesterplay, context into these sanity checks (and others in the CD-DA patch) was to catch and inform users when things have really gone off the rails - for example: bad CD dump, broken/incompatible CUE sheets (which make it beyond the mounting phase), corrupt memory or integer overflows, and the …

Re: Document Check / Copy Protection Removal Tutorials

in DOS
I think this is very valuable information both for the preservation of this (increasingly) lost art as well as to gain historic insight into the software protection mechanisms themselves, and how they evolved over time. My understanding is that performing, documenting, and teaching these actions is …
