Re: Voodoo 2 difficulties.

It actually works. Thank you so much for helping. I didn't think it could be about being speed sensitive because I tried to slow it down with "throttle F -c" command earlier and it didn't change anything even if the game was so slow that it took minutes to get to the options screen. It worked with …

Re: Voodoo 2 difficulties.

Hi, I have the same motherboard and also had voodoo2's installed in it. Also tried Lol2 :) With older glide games and a fast CPU, you need the glide2x.ovl from newer 3dfx drivers. You can try the original Diamond drivers, but you need to set your CPU speed to around 400 mhz (easy to do in BIOS). I …

Re: Voodoo 5 Troubleshooting Adventures

Just wanted to provide an update on this. So far, none of the flipping of BIOS switches has helped. This is all a big doo-doo mess. Also got another nice Socket 7 board off Craigslist that also spat out the three disappointing beeps. However, through my Googling I (of course) found a VOGONS thread …

Re: Voodoo5 Pure DOS VESA/VBE 3.0 Issues

I played Duke Nukem 3D in 640x480 a long time ago in pure DOS without issues. Some games like 7th Guest have vertical lines and other garbage across the screen though, but never had a black screen or anything in other games. Can't think of any more games to try right now, if you want me to test …

Re: Voodoo 5 Troubleshooting Adventures

Hey everyone, I've got an update on this. I'm still thinking there's something wrong with the BIOS on the card. I was going to try and flash it last night, but I couldn't find the exact right tool, it was late, I had to clean up, etc. Any recommendations about where I should go from here? Did 3dfx …

Re: Voodoo 5 Troubleshooting Adventures

Hi! You could take a look at this forum topic, this guy had bad capacitors on his voodoo5 and had similar issues. I understand recapping it is the first thing to do if it has issues like this. https://www.vogons.org/viewtopic.php?f=63&t=59870 I also had a topic on issues with my voodoo5: https:// …

Re: Voodoo5 5500's DirectX Support

Hello VOGONS members! Oh, and two bonus questions: How well does the Voodoo5 5500 fare under DOS with DOS games, and how well does it do with early Glide games such as Tomb Raider? Not too good. I never found out how to adjust the refresh rate under DOS (Voodoo2 allows you to do this easily). Most …
