Re: What game are you playing now?

A couple of things I've been playing... Duke Nukem 1 -- Episode 1 What a fun little romp. I never got into this one much when I was a kid but the other day I was looking through some scrolling EGA games to test a new screen and got stuck on it. The graphics are colorful and I really like the …

Just had some Three-bean-salad for lunch, along with rolls, jalapeno cheese and a hard boiled egg. The bean salad is really one of my spring/summer favorites. It's steamed green beans (still crispy) and one can each of chickpeas and those big Italian white beans. Mix everything up with a couple …

Share photos of your everyday computer that you use. Or upgrades you are performing. HP 6300 M/T I plan on upgrading soon. Actually, I have that same PC but I added an SSD and some low-performance Nvidia graphics card that's slightly better than the onboard one. I got it maybe three years ago at …

Last night saw a classic out of Frankfurt, Hesse: Boiled potatoes, hard-boiled eggs and "grie Soß" (green sauce).. The green sauce wasn't authentic because it didn't have egg in it and there's only one lonely borage plant in our garden; but it had burnet, mint, parsley, chives and lemon balm. Man, I …

Oh yeah. I am familiar with a cut that's close to the tri-tip that's very popular in Brazilian/Portuguese areas in the NYC tristate region...it's called Picanha. Great stuff when sous-vided for 2 hours at 133F/56C in a bag with sea salt+pepper+clarified butter, and then seared with a torch or hot …

Did a tri-tip (German: "mayor's/parson's cut") the other day. Just a plain marinade of olive oil, garlic, salt and pepper. I grilled it on my Weber, seared it a couple of minutes per side on very high heat and then did about 15-20 minutes of indirect heat at 200-250 degrees. It came out really nice, …

Just had some sliced fresh bread with NYT beet dip, cucumber, tomatoes and a hard-boiled egg. Everything topped with Tony Chachere's Creole Seasoning (medium), one of the last couple of condiments from the US that we haven't run out of. The dip is super simple and really delicious. I'll paraphrase …

I don't seriously collect records but I have two or three crates. I like to play them on Sunday mornings, so today it was Mozart's "Eine kleine Nachtmusik" and some flute concerto. Intersting to note that, while it is so overwhelmingly popular today, the "Nachtmusik" was an entirely overlooked and …

Since it's Friday and this is a Catholic place, I had some matjes herring in cream sauce with potatoes. The cream sauce traditionally has apples slices and chopped pickles and onion in it. This is one of those down-home things my dad used to make when I was a kid, so I'm very fond of this dish.
