Rendition Verite V2200 BIOS

I've recently acquired a large variety of computer hardware from local scrappers. Many of them have missing parts unfortunately. There is a Rendition Verite V2200 8Mb AGP card made by Super Grace probably. http://www.vgamuseum.info/images/palcal/rendition/196_super_grace_v2200_8m_126g-2_top_hq.jpg …

Re: Need GPU Advice

It depends on your gaming needs. I don't think you can find a 350MHz Pentium 3 because it was introduced at 450MHz. There was a very good performance improvement in Coppermine vs. Katmai. Socket 370 P3 Coppermines are very inexpensive with a large selection of coolers. Coppermine compatible slotkets …

Re: Voodoo 5 repair, VSA-100 replacement

Just in case anyone is interested, there is a us ebay seller that is selling the vsa chips for around $22 usd shipped, and they claim to have around 270 available. I saw his ad. Rev. 220 chips unfortunately. Rev. 320 are more worthy to buy. I'm looking for Voodoo 3 chips because I have a number of …

Re: Voodoo 5 repair, VSA-100 replacement

Just for curiosity, are these GPU chips you bought original surplus ones, or does some Chinese company manufacture new chips for hobbyists? Original surplus for sure. More than likely after the shutdown of 3DFX manufacturing plants all unused proprietary ICs were sent to be scrapped as e-waste and …

Re: Voodoo 5 repair, VSA-100 replacement

It isn't very complicated to design a Glide compatible GPU. It's a problem to sell it because all 3Dfx intellectual property belongs to NVIDIA. No one wants to be sued hard. OTOH it's possible to manufacture clone PCBs for the V5 5500 or 6000 and use those surplus chips to produce replicas.

Re: Voodoo 5 repair, VSA-100 replacement

Do you know how to upgrade the card to 128MB? What's the point? There are numerous compatibility issues. The PCB lacks traces for the additional address strobe which has to be wired manually and that doesn't look pretty. http://i40.tinypic.com/1e74ag.jpg http://i41.tinypic.com/2s0zo5c.jpg I can get …

Re: Voodoo 5 repair, VSA-100 replacement

And i got for almost for nothing, it was discarded from a electronics company as defective tool to be scrapped. Friend of mine rescued it from the scrap pile, repaired it and sold it tome for very reasonable price (price of repair parts) That was a bargain for sure. Although when I had to repair …

Re: Voodoo 5 repair, VSA-100 replacement

If my source for VSA-100 chips turns out the be good i can offer my services for reasonable price. In my case the damaged chip was removed with hot air but new chip will be soldered with professional rework machine ( https://www.kurtzersa.com/electronics-production-equipment/rework-inspection- …
