Whoops, fixed that. No such chips exist. The wavetable aspect is simply hooking stuff to the MIDI TX signal and mixing the analog output to your final output. Typical waveblaster setup that every card can support that has a MIDI UART present.

Of course there must be responses possible, otherwise games cannot detect the FM chip. FIFO would be one way to reduce overheads, but then you begin to enter FPGA territory for things. It isn't a super trivial thing to do, which is why nobody has done it yet but it certainly is possible to do. …

I guess the 80ns chips aren't ok, or at least one of them isn't if the video test fails. The known working 70ns parts not allowing things to work is stange though, there shouldn't be any additional conf necessary for extra memory either.

Yeah, those 70ns parts on the ATI card are running at 80ns, so the extra speed is getting wasted. You could definitely do the juggle.

The 80ns memories should work but you might experience some minor graphical corruption (wrong pixels and such) occasionally, especially in elevated temperatures.

Did SETYMF find the card prior to writing the EEPROM or did you always need /FORCEPNP option ? Disabling caches is certainly worth to try. The EEPROM chips are somewhat timing sensitive and there is no sort of ready/busy monitoring facility so I simply used a long enough delay that seemed to work …
