Re: Roland MT-200

The MT-200 is in the same family as the SC-55 which do have a MT-32 emulation mode (not great emulation but still). If this functionality is still left in the roms for the MT-200 then maaaybe it could be activated? On the SC-55 you enable it by starting the unit and holding down the left instrument …

Re: AIO Cooler Prevents Some Older Games From Launching

in Windows
It would be far clearer if you specified the exact AIO model rather than "nearly the same AIO" as for example the H110i and H100i/H110i RGB Platinum have totally different HID characteristics with the protocols also being different, further some Corsair AIOs aren't even HID devices. I half suspect …

Re: AIO Cooler Prevents Some Older Games From Launching

in Windows
I've nearly the same AIO only mine doesn't have RGB on it. Point being, I'm using the BIOS on the mainboard to control the fans and pump and don't use any software for this and never had an issue. Now, the previous software I did have installed for all the MSI RGB stuff did seem to cause some issues …

Re: Sound Canvas comparison project

90S: made in 2000. SC-8850 derived possibly, although has 64-voice polyphony and some tones I'm unfamiliar with like "Ai-yai-a". Maybe a mashup between Sound Canvas tech and modern (for the time) tech. No service manual, as I touched on, if you ever feel like opening yours up, that would be a big …

Re: Sound Canvas comparison project

In addition to others, I've got my MT-200, MT-300, SD-20, and both my MT-90S and MT-90U that I can record from. Hey man! Would love these recorded! (Excluding the SD-20, which we'll save for the GM comparison.) If you have the time, I'd also love to know what DAC the MT-90S uses, if you're willing …

Re: Best Midi player Best Mod player

I still use ModPlug on my PC with Windows10 on it. Seems to work just fine and I've always liked how the module files I have in my library sound through it. Can't answer about the best Midiplay for win3x though. I'm pretty sure I was just using the built in media player back in the day with my wave …

Re: Roland MT-32 , Do I need one ?

Another thing to consider, is MT-32 alternatives... like the MT-100 sequencer and the very large... but very capable RA-50. I think there might be other synths/modules/devices that are basically MT-32 at their heart that can be used as well. But just something else to consider.

Re: List of SC-55 clones/compatibles?

Great job. Sounds like SC-55 compatibility mode to me, but I'll listen more closely later (a thunderstorm overhead right now, lol). Yeah, I should have mentioned that it's like a SC-33 because it lacks the MT-32 variation tones. It has the exact same basic set of 226 instruments. The additional …

Re: List of SC-55 clones/compatibles?

From what I can tell, the MT-300 is a SC-33 (same 226 tones) with an extra 143 tones (128 extra GM tones with 5 extra variations that are hard to identify, 9 drums and 1 that I can't figure out). Or at least, it's using that "GM2" style patch list, the SC-55 mk II patches minus the MT-32 tones. No …

Re: List of SC-55 clones/compatibles?

Sorry for necro bumping this but I actually just got an MT-300 to add to the stack this weekend. It is a very curious MT device as I can't quite place what it uses for samples? It came out in 98 if the copyright on the manual is to be believed. It is definitely upgraded from the MT-200 I also have, …

Re: MIDI Thru box

Well a midi switch won't help you much with what you describe... if games send some data to modules or setup in a certain way and you switch modules then the new module will miss that data and you will get wrong playback. What you need IMHO is a sound mixer where you can select which module to hear …
