Wait a second! The values in the schematic (250k or 50k) is not what you should set them to. That value indicates the model of the pot, i.e. the maximum value you can set it to. It makes no sense to set the pots out-of-circuit, because you don't know what you need to set them to. The idea is that …

This driver detects if CPU is doing nothing (i.e. waiting for input) and puts it into "idle" state, which makes CPU consume less energy and produce less heat.
