Re: IBM 286 Alternative.

I wanted to buy an IBM 5170 computer but I found the Idea too expensive and not practical. I have had the possibility to buy an original IBM AT (5170) for a reasonable price, but I skipped it because I do not like it. Even if I actually think it is a very beautiful design and extremely handsome …

Re: NT3.51 Just turned 25 Today!

sure the fuse is a much better analogy I think by focusing on the protection mechanism you're missing the point entirely. None of these guys in the thread were saying there should not be a kernel panic protection, but simply that the frequency with which it was tripped on those platforms betrayed …

very curious to see how far Apple can push their SoCs, I've been very impressed by what they are doing for a while (at least since 2014), so without the form factor/TDP limitations of a phone/tablet things can get interesting, I agree. Apple has been extremely good at their development of their ARM …

The only reason why Apple hasn't put a Wacom touchscreen into their Macbooks is that they're afraid to kill the iPad sales. Why buy a tablet when you can get a notebook that is also a tablet? I might even switch to Apple if they had a similar device to my ThinkPad L390 Yoga which is very versatile. …

I wouldn't use a pen on a phone - but on a tablet yes. Could not agree more. I like it on 2-1-computers (most useful when tablet part is on it's own, but also good for notes in OneNote laptop mode), and perfect on tablets. But I never liked it on phones (had a model with it once), and do not miss …

Re: NT3.51 Just turned 25 Today!

pretty bad analogy for your position considering airbags deploy needlessly a large percentage of the time and cost a fortune to replace lol Well. That can be debated (I dot not agree at all, and think your totally wrong about it), but that debate would be quite off topic. But if it really makes you …

Re: NT3.51 Just turned 25 Today!

As someone who has made a living the last 20+ years as a MS systems engineer, Wow. I am truly impressed. A BSOD can be a bad thing, especially when they could be difficult to recover from, the owner got the latest, greatest printer and want's it install now, BSOD. I am not saying that it's fun to …

Re: NT3.51 Just turned 25 Today!

It's interesting how time changes perspective. Back in the day I hated Microsoft with passion, as the whole Windows 9x line was unstable and crashed so often, as well as their business practices. Nowaday I understand what they achieved, given that back in the industry everyone was playing with …

Re: NT3.51 Just turned 25 Today!

I'm surprised how many people are saying their schools had a NT3 server. Did the education system get it cheap? Would have thought peer to peer was good enough, Computer labs were pretty basic in those pre internet for everyone days I know Microsoft made a deal with the Australian Education system, …

Re: NT3.51 Just turned 25 Today!

I did not know Win NT 3.5.1 could support up to 32 CPU’s. Do you know of any computers or motherboards with 4 or more CPU’s ? http://www.os2museum.com/wp/more-cpus-in-nt-3-x-workstation/ Sequent used to do Windows servers, like the WinServer 5000 series, with up to 30 of either 486 or Pentium …

My L390 Yoga from last year has two RAM slots and can be upgraded to 64GB. SSD can also be swapped with whatever you want (M.2 slot). But I agree, this model is a big exception to the rule. Lenovo seems to have gone the Apple way and I think the L390 will be my last ThinkPad, sadly. :( That said, …
