Re: Old Firefox ssl certificates override

Thank you, but i do'nt care at all for viruses. This board is about running old software on old computers, and XP+Firefox on a 13yo laptop meets this premise. If any non-security-freak knows an answer to my original question, i'd still be glad for any adequate response. In between something positive …

Re: Old Firefox ssl certificates override

@rasz_pl: 1st time i hear about ssl stripping. Thank you for teaching me something new! But far too heavy for my, i'm only an ambitious surfer, so i shall keep my hands off. I just tried the FF-addon "Skip cert error 0.4" which auto-checks all the "make an exception?" buttons when a https-site …

Re: Old Firefox ssl certificates override

In case somebody wants to know: On https://github.com/JustOff/ca-archive/releases you will find an 44MB .xpi archive containing a clean catalogue incl. direct install-links to thousands of outdated-Firefox extensions. I found a superb add-on for my needs at the first push.

DeLorme Global Explorer as Win 3.1 shell, paths

in DOSBox General
I'm running the absolutely very best program (i mean: game) that exists for win 3.1 = DeLorme Global Explorer from 1993 (= 430MB, must have been one of the first distributions on CD ever) - in short DGE, a A+++ vector-atlas. Win is under DOSBox on c:\windows. DGE is installed in C:\GLOBALX, it's CD- …

Re: Old Firefox ssl certificates override

Thank you, but... I do'nt want to create a cert, i want to get rid of them. Encryption = ssl/tsl is not the point. Even IE8 can decrypt https. My concern is to make a usable browser want to do so without asking me all the time for confirmations... Edit: My original request was a bit vague, sorry for …

Re: Old browsers ssl certificates

Thank you, but i try to stay online with this computer until i am forced into a retirement-home = the year 2050 a.D. (at least!). If i have to be on the safe side, i'm using my Android-mobile instead. Edit: My original request was a bit vague, sorry for this. I modified the 1st entry.

Old Firefox ssl certificates override

Hello, i noticed that i wrote to much. So, here my edited request in (hopefully clearer) "compact mode": - I'm experimenting with old FFes (legacy, prior v53). My favorite is 'Light', a lean FF49. Due to out-dated certs i get errors for most https-sites. Sure i can make exceptions for each, but …

Re: Versamap Vmap Versa Map Charles Culberson

Try vDosPlus and see if it works there, cause that is designed to work with applications which aren't games. Well, i play with it, so it is a game. Versamap is simple 8-bit DOS, less than 400K, no long file-names, it runs on a 386 and just visualized a small database from 1980 = nothing …

Versamap Vmap Versa Map Charles Culberson

Hello! I got different versions of the MWDB-II mapping-program Versamap (1992-95). V 1.1, 1.4 and 1.5 work fine. Versions 1.2 and 1.3 (look almost the same to me) can be started via batch under Win XP. In DosBox they crash & produce the following error: Path not found in module MPROJECT at address …

California Games Epyx

Hello! Calgames.exe complains, that i am short of 199K to run it. MEM says that i got 632K conventional mem and 63K UMB. What now? Someone mentioned, that Calgames complains about too little RAM when it finds too much? Err... (unfortunately the someone did not mention how to handle this). The .exe …

EarthWatch 3.5 VGA Lawrence Nagy ElanWare 1997

Hello! EarthWatch (a sundial) is the ONLY of my 600+ DOS programs that won't run. The (rather simple) program (EVW35.exe) starts in full-screen under Windows XP (no need for Win95 compatibility mode) and shows a colourful sunlit/dark map of the world = it works. But under DOS-Box all i see is black. …

Re: Online with WFW3.11

in DOSBox General
Hello again! After 2 months of intense thinking, i got an idea. The not-so-very-beautiful side of img is, that they are not flexible. Everything you change is gone with next reboot. So my guess: I make an image of MS-DOS 6 including config.sys and autoexec.bat from WfW3.11. Autoexec.bat batches only …

DosBox 0.74 worse than 0.73 ?

in DOSBox General
Hello Experts! I got several antique versions of Microsoft Flight Simulator running under DOSBox. MSFS 1.00 and 1.05 make problems, as the screen freezes, when the vector-landscape is beeing generated. The upper half is garbeled with random dots, whereas the instrument-panel is still readable ... = …

Solved! Windows 1.0 (one-dot-zero) running!

in Windows
Hi Jo22! Thanks for your tips! I tried it out... If fact, it is a matter of the DOS-version, and it' s simple. In DOSBOX: [autoexec] ver set 3 34 win.bat In win.bat: *** NOTHING *** more re. versions!!! Win starts & is stable, the mentioned ASCII-starting mix-up has vanished, too (unlike yours it …

Re: CONFIG.SYS in Dosbox

in DOSBox General
I found his other thread: https://www.vogons.org/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=60511 If it's true that WfW 3.11 physically requires IFSHLP.SYS in memory to allow networking , then you are probably right that booting real DOS inside DOSBox is the only way. Yes, IFSHLP.SYS is the bad guy. "Your network adapter …
