Re: Toshiba T4900CT

I have ordered a CC style memory card for the laptop but it's located in Israel so it's going to take a few weeks to get here. The toshiba power brick should be here sometime next week. Hoping that the issue will be with the adjustable power cord and not the laptop power port itself. Are you still …

Re: Toshiba T4900CT

This is a great laptop. For the hard drive, I didn't mess with any adapters - I just used a straight-up IDE solid state hard drive (8 GB). Also glad to see you located a 32 MB memory card. Just curious where you found it and exactly what brand it is. I had a heck of a time finding mine. I found the …

Re: Toshiba T4900CT

On ebay, a seller was selling another T4900ct for parts and I went ahead and bought it. Having experience with disassembling this model since i bought this other, i have taken out all the parts. I replaced the screen with another so it no longer has those weird burn marks on the screen. I have also …

Re: Toshiba T4900CT

I have IE 5.5 running on the system and works just fine. I also ordered a serial mouse and a D-link dfe-690TXD to use wired ethernet to access the internet and my home network. The d-link wouldn't fit in the laptop. Was very strange. I will have to find another. Serial mouse works great. It was due …

Re: Toshiba T4900CT

I will eventually replace the screen with a compatible one, get a replacement floppy cable, and somehow fix the accu-touch. Now, I don't want to make it factory perfect, but with just enough upgrades that'll satisfy me.

Re: Toshiba T4900CT

Well, good job and congratulations on getting this laptop to work! Are you happy with the screen? How is the speaker/sound on this one? Did you run any games yet? Thanks! I can view everything without any issues. It's more appearance then functionality. Speaker and sound is what can be expected. …

Re: Toshiba T4900CT

I have also determined that despite multiple driver updates, that the accu-touch built in mouse does not work. I considered replacing both the keyboard and built in mouse buttons but I will just find a PS/2 or serial mouse to work with it. I tried using a USB to Ps/2 adapter with a laser mouse but …

Re: Toshiba T4900CT

I am happy to report that the CF-adapter worked perfectly and despite not having a working floppy drive, with some help of an IDE to USB cable and vmware, i managed to install MS-DOS 7.1 with Fat 32-bit support. From there, run dos drivers to get my PCMCIA SONY Vaio PCGA-CD51 working, install win95 …

Re: Toshiba T4900CT

Hope the CF-adapter works for you. I have two later Toshibas (Tecra/Satellite) and they didn't like any CF-adapters, not even nice, name-brand ones. The floppy cable is guaranteed to be a non-standard, proprietary pinout. These machines are still fairly common, I'm sure one will come around that …

Re: Toshiba T4900CT

I have ordered a CF to IDE adapter card as well as an 8GB CF card to replace the existing hard drive. After trying to access the laptop drive through a USB IDE cable, any attempt to read the drive files will cause windows to freeze up on my main computer. Running scandisk on the laptop, it has …

Re: Toshiba T4900CT

I suspect that even though the floppy drive uses a standard zif connection on one side, it uses a proprietary connection on the other side to connect the floppy to the board. The floppy cable is compatible with Toshiba Satellite T2400CS, T2400CT, T2450CT, and T4900CT systems.
