Re: 1440p monitors and scaling lower resolutions

in Milliways
Also if Dragon Age Origin's UI scaling stops scaling well after 960p, why would you not, you know, use 960p rather than significantly reducing resolution to 720p? Widescreen, you know. It's something I would have to try out and see what I think looks best. Have you tried it on a 2160p monitor, or …

Um, what are you talking about? No old games support 1280x720 natively, so if you're able to add one custom resolution (1280x720) you'll surely be able to add one that's the correct aspect ratio (960x720). Depends on what you call old. Probably only games I might play 720p would be Tiberian Sun and …

I am currently using an LG 34UM88C-P 34" 21:9 and 1024x768 and 720p look really really good on it. I am using a dvi to hdmi converter and you only get 3 inputs with it and the converter I think causes major issues with some higher resolutions not being detected properly (1920x1200 for instance, the …

I think 1280*1024 in 1:1 on 32" displey will be still big enough to use. It should be also "native sharp". Big enough to use probably yes, but it's very likely I would find it too small to enjoy and it would bother me constantly. 1600x1200 at 1:1 should be big enough for me but my 7950GT won't be …

1440p monitors and scaling lower resolutions

in Milliways
I've got three options: A: Get a 1280x1024 LCD monitor and enjoy sharp native resolution picture for 95% of the games I play. Problem: I'd have to make room for that stuff and that would require making changes I REALLY don't want to do. B: Move to somewhere I have the room to do what I want. Problem …

The main issue I'm having is adding HL to Alchemy for EAX , results in stuttering / crackling audio. Anybody know how to fix it? As far as I know Alchemy emulates EAX by translating old Directsound to OpenAL, so you could try to install the latest OpenAL and see does that help: https://community. …

PSTBS2.jpg Planescape: Torment and Broken Sword II. Got BS2 couple weeks ago and just brought PS:T home, both in excellent condition. Got them both cheap, pretty sure they could have asked double the amount I paid for Broken Sword II and the poor sod who sold that original 4cd CIB version of …

I did try to start the first expansion but noped out, whoever did the soundtrack for it is no Trent Reznor. You would be correct, the soundtrack for the expansions was composed by Jehung Hwang if I'm not mistaken... The same composer as Mechwarrior 2, Heavy Gear, Battlezone, etc. Well damn, …

Finished Quake few days ago. I did enjoy it more than Duke 3D but it's still not exactly my favorite game in existence. Honestly the best thing about it in my opinion are the short levels, I think the longest maps took like 23min or so and I did run around looking for secrets a bit. Combine that …

After getting a bit sidetracked I went back to continue my 90's classic shooter spree (Doom->Doom II->Duke3D->Quake->Quake II). I had finished Ultimate Doom and Doom II and was supposed to play Master Levels for Doom II and Final Doom next but as much as I love Doom I was starting to get a bit …

I love the pi, the concept and obliquity make many things possible or accessible. However, I feel sorry for all the people who went all out on accessories to run emulators on their HDTV; they can't understand why their favourite games from the 80’s and 90's are not as they remember. Just the ~50ms …

@badmojo The not working V-sync was fixed by some official patch and it's included in GOG/Steam versions. Though nothing wrong in forcing it through gfx driver, just letting you know. I think when I start SoC, I'm going to try it vanilla first. I've got the GoG version. Some games I'm more open to …

That back cover picture with NOD heavy tank and mammoth tanks always make me chuckle, why on earth they decided to use a screenshot from some early development build? Been collecting PlayStation 1 …
