Re: Bought these games today

I prefer "clunky" gameplay a million times over games that practically play themselves. But I'm a lover of eurojank as well. That's one of the reasons the 2013 Tomb Raider reboot is irredeemable garbage and why I have absolutely no interest in the recent God of War games.

Re: Bought these games today

Added a PC version of Far Cry 2 to my collection. As well as an Xbox 360 version of Saints Row IV Game of the Century Edition. I was not happy with the Re-elected update, even though the original is still accessible I feel safer having a physical copy.

Re: Bought these games today

I think Sim City and maybe The Sims 3 too requires online activation and maybe have online DRM too. I generally avoid games like these because you either already have to own them digitally and run them on an OS supported by the launcher of crack them to play on period correct hardware/OS, but then …

Re: Making choices for a (super) socket 7 for DOS - Win98SE. Only 3 cards can be installed!

I wouldn't "waste" one slot to a 3D only card even if it means losing Glide. So one choice would be the Riva128 . That surely is a key decision to make. Use "SIS AGP & 3dfx" or just a Riva128. Why would you pick the Riva 128 PCI over the combo? I was in write only mode and hyperfocused on the 3 …

Re: Making choices for a (super) socket 7 for DOS - Win98SE. Only 3 cards can be installed!

If I had to limit myself to 3 cards only, I wouldn't "waste" one slot to a 3D only card even if it means losing Glide. So one choice would be the Riva128 . My second pick would be the Yamaha based SBPro clone with the daughterboard . The third pick is easily the networking card , preferably a 3Com …

Re: smallest computer that can run windows XP with supported hardware (especially video card?)

Thanks for the link, @randomStranger :) That site is quite a trove of info; I wish they had also info about which OS can run on which machine :D I saw the majority of them seems capable of linux, and some of them could run 98, so I can give a try with XP, but need to cross reference the vendor …

Re: Which sites issue IP and device based bans?

I never used reddit, but I've only heard bad things about it. I generally pay attention to not be too easily tracked online and most things sites can use to track/ban you by can be spoofed and you should be prepared if you plan to use a known toxic service, but it can be very inconvenient with …

Re: smallest computer that can run windows XP with supported hardware (especially video card?)

Well I wouldn't try to run Crysis on it... the question is how light 'light' is. Well, I definitely would. Not playing it, just try it, at least the demo. Back in the day I experienced Crysis on a 2.4GHz Northwood Celeron and Radeon 9600 Pro, I played half way through it with 11fps. It can't be …

Re: smallest computer that can run windows XP with supported hardware (especially video card?)

It really depends on what level of compatibility you want and how small you want to go. Shuttle XPCs are small they usually have room for a single slot graphics card as well as a sound card. You can also try small form factor OEM builds like the Dell Optiplex 7010 or 790. These have 2 expansion …

Re: Bought these games today

Heavenly Sowrd - I already had the PS3 Essentials version, I ordered an older version with the non-budget case from the UK. The Witcher 3 - I already had it on Steam and this one doesn't support most of the late story DLCs, but... Cardboard slipcover, soundtrack CD, manual, map, wolf head stickers, …

Re: Xbox 360 Marketplace closing

It was announced the end of last year. I've never bought anything digital for Xbox other than the Fallout New Vegas DLCs. Everything else is either physical or it was a free giveaway. I don't mind the store closing, adding payment options already doesn't work, you have to buy stuff on PC and …

Re: How important is screen resolution to you?

A lot of this 4k and 8k stuff is more of a marketing ploy, as it won't be noticable unless you have a big enough TV and are at the right viewing distance. It's also a bit like digital cameras and megapixels, as consumers are impressed by big numbers. However, the resolution is only one part of the …
