I just found that paratrooper will behave like this in dosbox when two joysticks are attached (or a single joystick and joystick_type=auto (or 4axis)). Did you perhaps have two joysticks attached?

why "-nofs"? imgmake can create fat 12, 16 or 32. And if it is a "-t hd", it will also automatically partition it (unless you use the -nofs flag). imgmake WIN98.vhd -t hd -size 1024 -fs fat32

even easier: imgmount d win98.iso -ide 2m You don't need to specify -fs none or -t iso (it will automatically detect it as iso). Even -ide 2m is not needed in most cases.

Either you pass it through as a Joystick to DOSBox, look at the [joystick] section in the config file. Or you can map the joystick (ps3) controls to keyboard buttons in dosbox with the mapper editor.

How about some launcher front-end that lists the games, and starts DOSBox with the right settings? DBGL is a launcher that runs from Linux, or RetroArch.

Did you try the other commands? As long as "ldconfig|grep libpng" does not find libpng15, than neither will that dosbox-x build, which depends on it. Did you check where that RPM package installed its files? I expect it to be /lib64 but you did not confirm.

Not sure if this is one of them, but some games support multiple CD-ROM drives, in which case you do not need to do any CD swaps. e.g. imgmount D "CD\BITSP1.iso" -t iso imgmount E "CD\BITSP2.iso" -t iso imgmount F "CD\BITSP3.iso" -t iso

In addition to trying DOSBox SVN, you may also want to try a few different DOSBox forks. DOSBox ECE, DOSBox-X or DOSBox Staging.
