The passthrough connector is to pass the LPT port on a PC through to a printer, so you can hang a zip drive and a printer off one PC. This isn't like SCSI, where (in theory) you can hang one drive off two computers (provided each PC SCSI card has a different id - the default HBA SCSI id is 7).

Apparently iPXE supports the 3C515. Another alternative is a minimal Etherboot ROM which then chain loads iPXE from a boot server.

Remove the lid and see what's connected to the DB25 connector - my money is on a ribbon cable going to a 34w edge connector, and a number of wires going to a molex connector, with both connectors plugged into the drive. Even better - take off the lid and post some photos of what you find.

I have a pecking order: Dry soft cloth Cloth+water Cloth+water+washing up liquid (or cloth+foaming cleaner) Isopropyl alcohol+cloth (aka IPA or propan-2-ol) Methylated spirits (methyl alcohol/methanol) After that point it's petrol/paraffin/ It very rarely gets beyond IPA in my experience.
