how to - apply Munt patch to dosbox linux?

so, i tried to get this working on my own, but i really need some assistance here. i have already unpacked the source dosbox-0.74-3.tar.gz and also placed the dosbox-0.74-3-mt32-patch.diff in that folder (one level up the src folder). then started the terminal in dosbox folder and ran: patch -p0

I never used that option. Just put the MT-32 roms in DOSROOT and you'll be OK. wished it was that easy. i still run an ancient 2014 daum dosbox version, mt32 (dosroot) is fine. now, to jump on a newer train, i had a look at what actual versions incl. the mt32 patch. i picked up a 64bit build from …

@rcblanke: thanks for the hint with that parameter. setting it to false indeed solved the issue. now there is also no more .dosbox folders being created, anymore. i wonder why this ever worked out-of-the-box before (well, for config-files i always made sure to point to the dbgl folder in the gui)?

@rcblanke: thanks for alpha5. regarding portability, i moved dbgl to its former location and upgraded it. when starting the new version, the layout returned to default setup. also, a hidden .dbgl folder is now created under home upon every start, still making it not as portable as before. forgot to …
