Re: Lands of Lore 3 in XP

in Windows
I did figure out that it is the cutscenes, including the intro, that is crashing the game. If I hit ESC rapidly as it is starting, I can get into the game but it's really jerky. Any suggestions?

Lands of Lore 3 in XP

in Windows
Has anyone ever had any luck getting Lands of Lore 3 to run in XP? All I get, before and after installing the 1.07 patch, is a black screen, a brief musical sound, and then a crach to the desktop. I've tried all the compatibility modes and DOSbox (even though it's a 95/98 game) with no luck. I've …

More problems with Star Trail

in DOS
I've been messing with this game on W2K for months now. I've been able to get the mouse working thanks to Mok's patch and the sound/speech working thanks to VDMSound. Now, however, I'm getting a strange graphic problem that periodically happens. About half the time I enter a battle, all of the …

Re: Arkania 2 Star Trail problems

in DOS
I realize this is an older topic but I started the thread so I thought I'd reply as I have been struggling with this issue for some time. The patch you put up does indeed work! After all the crap I've been through trying to reconfigure this and that it was as simple as a little patch. So (if Mok is …

Re: Arkania 2 Star Trail problems

in DOS
No, I'm not playing in a window. CURSE THIS OS!!!! I'm surprised there isn't a real solid emulator out there (that is free) for dos such as there is for console systems. I guess it's a lot more complicated though. Hey, I did figure out one little thing. I started the game and started pressing all of …

Re: Arkania 2 Star Trail problems

in DOS
When I try to load the game by itself in Win2000, when I move my mouse the cursor just fickers and every once in awhile jumps to another area of the screen. I put the dos driver in a seperate autoexec as part of a dos shortcut for the program, like you would for sound card settings, etc. That is …

Re: Arkania 2 Star Trail problems

in DOS
So is there a way to add a COM3 in Win2k? Or is there a way to assign the dos mouse driver to com1 or 2? Or am I just out of luck? It's weird because about 20 other dos games I've tried in Win2000 work fine with the mouse and sound through VDMSound, dosbox, or just by themselves.

Re: Arkania 2 Star Trail problems

in DOS
Well, I think I'm finally getting somewhere. But not quite. I downloaded a Dos mouse driver and put a "lh" command in the autoexec section of the program icon. Now, I can tell that it is indeed trying to load the mouse driver when I run the game, except before it starts it gives me an error - The …

Re: Arkania 2 Star Trail problems

in DOS
I couldn't get the sixelamusic link to work. Anyway, I tried the VDSound Launcher like you suggested and the mouse still does the same thing. So apparantly it isn't a memory or sound card issue. If you want to try to see if you (or Vlad) has any luck with it, I downloaded it from classic-trash.com. …

Re: Arkania 2 Star Trail problems

in DOS
It loads with VDMSound but the mouse is all screwed up. The cursor stays in one place and only flickers when I move the mouse. Dosbox doesn't run it as explained above (maybe protected mode game) and Mouseset, when used, gives me a not enough memory error. I've tried about everything I know. I'd be …

Re: Arkania 2 Star Trail problems

in DOS
OK. I turned the errors on through the config file although I haven't messed with anything else yet as I wanted to give you the error message first. In the Program window in dosbox, it says: XMS (500 KByte) for C++ Overlay handling utilized ONEFILE version In the error message box, it reads: Exit to …

Arkania 2 Star Trail problems

in DOS
Has anyone been able to get Star Trail to work? I'm trying to run it on Win2000 but seem to not have any luck. I've tried several different ways (Abandon Loader, dosbox, VDMSound) but all usually just spit it out without any error message that makes sense. Maybe it is a DosProtected game and so …

Re: Mouse support in Arkania

in DOS
I tried it in dosbox and it does indeed work with both sound and mouse. Now I can't seem to get Arkania 2 to work. I'll start another thread.

Mouse support in Arkania

in DOS
I am running W2K and most DOS games work pretty well (without sound). Running them with VDMSound seems to work good for sound. However, Realms of Arkania: Blade of Destiny seems to be having problems with the mouse. The mouse cursor just sticks in one place in the middle of the screen and flickers …
