USB issue solved! It was as easy as installing Maximus Decim Native USB drivers (NUSB36E): even the card reader seems to work 😀

1) Is there a setting in your BIOS to set your SATA ports to compatibility mode (disable AHCI)? I've had success using SATA hard drives straight up connected to the motherboard's SATA ports in Windows 98. You might not need to use the adapter at all. https://www.top-password.com/blog/wp-content/ …

I do have a YMF724 and a Solo-1, I'll definitely want to try out both of them. Though, based on previous testings I made, all three sound cards gave me some kind of headache... How long did you give the board to power on? That Asrock board can take several minutes to power up in some configurations. I was aware of 10 / 20 maybe 3o seconds, but several MINUTES? Seeing as Asrock is like a cheap Asus board, try the Asus boot trick. Connect a PS2 keyboard and hold down the DEL key as you power on. See if it'll post.
