Ok so you are trying to play a 1991 DOS game designed for a 386 on a TX motherboard with Pentium MMX. What CPU did the Asus P5A have on it ? Many things can make that game not run proper, not just the chipset.

yes some ATX motherboards do not support ps2 keyboard or mouse in true DOS, the BIOS must support DOS mode KB and mouse. One way to check is if the mouse and keyboard both work in the BIOS, but some board still have issues under DOS.

I would try with a known good Intel Pentium 100, 133 or 166 non-MMX just to rule out BIOS cpu detection and some VRM issues.

Bought another USB floppy for $5, a Dell/NEC that unfortunately will not read 720k disk, only 1.44Mb 🙁 So if anyone see's a Dell/NEC UF0002 giving a heads up it will work under Win7+ but only with 1.44Mb. Every one I own that uses Mitsumi or Sony internals seems to read 720k just fine under Win7.
