Re: AGP cards for Windows 98 gaming - help!

Played both GTA3 and VC on my P2 400 GF2MX running Win9x GTA3 was playable, not smooth but you learnt to deal with the lag VC was really pushing it but I was young and thats all I had Nostalgia hasn't hit me hard enough to want to go and relive that setup yet Sorry, slow reply haha That would have …

Re: DOS icing on the cake

Most dos tweaking "fun" is trying to free up as much conventional memory as possible, we even have a whole thread on it https://www.vogons.org/viewtopic.php?t=26435 I mostly just loosely follow http://www.mdgx.com/mem6.htm or http://www.mdgx.com/mem7.htm For system management I usually "cheat" and …

Re: DOS icing on the cake

My usual thing is my personal custom install (this is for 386+ machines): MS-DOS 7.1 DOS folder with all the usual utilities and stuff, plus: FDISK from FreeDOS (appears identical, but less limited than original FDISK) JEMMEX CTMOUSE CONFIG.SYS with a menu containing various memory management …

DOS icing on the cake

Hey guys, Bit of an odd one and tried to have a quick look to see if I could find some answers to my questions. When I was growing up, DOS was being phased out in favor of late 9X . Well at least for everything that I was being taught with. I do have the ability to work with and use DOS, but I have …

Re: AGP cards for Windows 98 gaming - help!

Vice City is definitely an XP era game, so I for one avoid playing such games on Win 98. By the end of 2002, nobody was thinking of Windows 98 anymore. Re: AGP cards for Windows 98 gaming - help!

Of the cards you mentioned, either the FX 5900 XT or Radeon 9800 Pro will fit the bill, the 9800 Pro is a faster card, especially in anything regarding Shader Model 2, however I have no experience with it under Win9x so I'm a little hesitant to recommend it. The FX 5900 XT can use 53.04 drivers and …

Re: SB Audigy SB0090 DOS support

I thought I should follow up on this as there was some missing parts that I managed to piece together. I was still having issues from files missing to no config files etc. The drivers above and the ones from the Audigy CD rom seemed to be missing two components. https://www.vogons.org/viewtopic.php …

Re: SB Audigy SB0090 DOS support

You have the wrong drivers . Excerpt from the readme.txt : The SBPCI.zip archive contains the dos sound card drivers for all Sound Blaster pci cards (excluding SBLive! and Audigy Models). What I get for doing this too late last night! haha oh man, I will go and search for some more appropriate ones …

Re: SB Audigy SB0090 DOS support

Add the following line "Set CTSYN=c:\DOSDRV" without the quotation marks in your Autoexec.bat file BEFORE the line C:\DOSDRV\SBINIT.COM That is assuming that your Audigy Dos drivers are located in the directory c:\DOSDRV . Sbeinit.com wil then be able to find the CTSYN.INI file that holds the …
