Re: Voodoo 5 5500 problem after flashing Bios

If they're legit ICs (not fakes or broken pulls) they should work. If shipping takes a long time and you're impatient, you could at least temporarily use an EEPROM from a donor card. Some TNT2 cards have this exact EEPROM, like https://www.ebay.com/itm/InsideTNC-Dream-nVidia-Riva-TNT2-Model-M64-32MB …

Re: Voodoo 5 Card Remake Project !

For adding DVI to a VSA card, there is no need for an FPGA. A TMDS encoder, such as TFP410, will do the trick. It might not be register compatible with the SiI164 used on the original DVI V4/V5 cards, but that can be easily fixed. The databook for the VSA100 is available online, it contains most of …

Updated the beginning of the thread with component values for another Voodoo 2 reference design based board, specifically a Creative CT6670. This, with what I posted before, should cover most V2 cards out there.

Hi, I used an LCR bridge. In my case, the measured values were closer to 4.7uF than 3.3uF. Some variation is normal, some manufacturers modified the reference design a bit (the card shown in the first post has polarity markings for the 1206 caps and uses ceramic caps, some manufacturers used …

Most likely the ICs are OK. Gently poke all TMU/FBI pins and see if any of them move. Then check for broken traces, corrosion, missing/chipped passives.

Besides missing/broken SMDs and bent FBI/TMU pins, another thing that should be checked on any faulty V2 card is loose FBI/TMU pins. Try gently poking each pin and see if any of them moves. Also, check out the post made by Tronix here: https://www.vogons.org/viewtopic.php?t=64338 The debug utility …

@gex85 No problem! But before replacing the cap I'd recommend checking the card for other damage, I don't see how a missing C128 would cause this behavior. C128 is used for TMU0 RAM VCC decoupling, the card should be detected without it.
