Re: Tell me what it's like to own a GUS

I was always intrigued by the GUS. I grew up in South Africa and literally nobody I know had one, or even knew someone who had one. I'm not sure they were ever even imported, so rare would be an understatement. However, I got the idea to build a retro PC around 2016 or so, and while in the UK on …

Re: Roland SCC-1 price

Yes agreed. To be fair the SCC1 is still a very attractive option. Real MPU w/ intelligent mode and built in Roland GM, what's not to love. Combine with an MT32 and a SB Pro / Yamaha audician card and you have pretty much the ideal setup for most DOS games with minimum fuss. I have this config in my …

Re: Roland SCC-1 price

Hmm, not so sure about that. I mean you can get the new hardmpu cards for not so much cash, although tbh most folks don't need the intelligent mode and could just use their soundcard to drive a SC55 externally, which go for about 100 euros locally...

Re: Roland SCC-1 price

https://www.ebay.com/itm/294953533540?ssPageN … mMakeTrack=true I'm guessing that this won't last long on eBay, so if you have been looking for one don't let it slip through your fingers! Only $650,00 - bargain! 🤣

Re: Roland SCC-1 price

I could have bought one for €100 locally... but I was like "hahaha, no that's way too much for just one soundcard" :D I’d say that’s a pretty good deal actually! They go for silly money now. I have 2x, but just the cards and no box. Sure as sh1t not paying 200 dollars for some scraps of cardboard …

Re: Roland SCC-1 price

I sold one of my SC-55's last week (not MK2 though) for a, it seems, very decent 55 euros. Maybe that's actually a bit low but oh well, let others have a good deal too sometimes. :) This was without the PSU though. I think that's a very fair price, considering no PSU. Thanks for not being a ripoff …

Re: Roland SCC-1 price

SCC-1 seems to have dissapeared from marktplaats, and now an SC-55 Mk2 showed up for 250 euros! I guess the seller wants to have his investment for the SCC-1 returned since reason stated in the advert is: due to another soundcard the sc-55 mk2 is not needed anymore). :) I saw that one too! I don't …

Re: Roland SCC-1 price

To be honest I would never pay prices over approx. 100 euros for one. There is one for sale on the Dutch “marktplaats” and it’s just a bare card and price is already up to 375 euros. Rediculous in my opinion. Where do you find one of these for 100 euros? I bought mine for 200+ and I thought I got a …

Re: Roland SCC-1 price

Yep, spotted that one yesterday. It was only half that then but I already noped out. Easy for me to say though, if you (as I do) already have an SC-55(ST in my case), the added value of an SCC-1 is purely bragging rights. I have better things to spend that kind of money on. What do you drive the …

kixs wrote on 2021-07-21, 12:02: It's a newer version like SC-55mkII. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roland_SC-55#Roland_SCC-1 Yep I understand but why it commands such a higher price is still for me a bit of a mystery...

Re: Retro Rig Photo Thread

great setup, very clean looking and the sound must be real good. i like the little 'game assistant' lte5000, that's a good idea! Thanks very much! I am really happy with it. I found the case NOS, was really fun building a 90's PC again from scratch but with some upgrades that I could never have …
