Re: 3 (+3 more) retro battle stations

@chadti99 That N9 BIOS for the S3 Trio64 VLB video card is cool. On the Asus VLI-486SV2GX4 with POD100 CPU i am seeing these differences: Diamond V2.01 BIOS: Wolf3D: 135 fps PC Player: 28.8 fps Doom: 60.03 fps (1244 ticks) Quake 1: 26.6 WinTune 2: 13300 KPixels/second N9 BIOS: Wolf3D: 137.3 fps [+] …

Re: 3 (+3 more) retro battle stations

Hello pshipkov and Chadti99, I've been following your guys' work for some time now and it is quite impressive. Talk about taking things to the next level! @Chadti99 I saw your VLB thread and have to say that I am quite impressed with your work in the area! These benchmarks here are interesting; I …

Re: 3 (+3 more) retro battle stations

Can anyone think of a way to get 1:1 PCI speed on the m919 at 50MHz FSB/200MHz CPU? The turbo truck doesn’t work for me. And I need to pull jumpers to boot at <40 to get to 55 without a bad jumper combo. I’d like to test 200MHz further. Update 1: Discovered that no FSB jumpers =20FSB, so if I place …

Re: My Very Long Bus Adventure.

Recent VLB get, Number Nine Trio64. This is a GXE64 non-pro or a Vision330 maybe? Lighting for dramatic effect. No interesting print on the back. I have this card. It's a vision 330. Says so on the floppy disks. Same bios and essentially identical, except yours have the 2 ram sockets, and they …

Re: 3 (+3 more) retro battle stations

You said above 864-vs-Trio64. Just to make sure - i am talking about your N9 Vision868 vs S3 Trio64 (Diamond). Got it, I just so happen to have those numbers. Curios thing though, the N9 868 runs better if I do the FSB trick to get 1:1 PCI but it doesn’t seem to effect the ARK or my S3 Trio64 or my …

Re: 3 (+3 more) retro battle stations

Going on pshipkov’s intuition, thinking maybe it was CPU related, I dropped the voltage down to 3.3 and things are working now. This particular CPU has always been sensitive to voltages and early in my testing with the m919 I thought Inhad determined the 4v setting was actually working better. Some …

Re: 3 (+3 more) retro battle stations

i think you are hitting thermal issues with the 180MHz CPU overclock. It is hot right now in USA and without active cooling many Am5x86 processors that can otherwise handle higher than 160MHz frequencies are starting to stall. At least that's my experience. I have only two chips that can truly do …

Re: 3 (+3 more) retro battle stations

Flashed back to the 14s bios and Quake is still DNF, just freezes, on the ARK. Not sure if it was a fluke or what that I was ever able to complete a run. I really need to put this board away. Update, cleared the cmos, loaded defaults. Now I’m completing timedemos again! Update 2: come back a few …

Re: 3 (+3 more) retro battle stations

On another note I noticed the ARK1000 is DNF on Quake on the latest M919 16s bios. I just can’t stop effing around with this board. I pulled it back out to test my Number Nine Motion 551. There also appears to be a divisor on the VLB bus, which may not be present on the 14s bios. It needs further …

Re: 3 (+3 more) retro battle stations

It’s a rarer PowerVR based card, successor to the chip used in the Matrox M3D, PCX2 I think. It’s similar in design to the GPU in the Dreamcast. The development of the Dreamcast actually delayed the Neon 250 to market, something like a year, and it couldn’t compete, hence low sales and rarity. My …
