Re: Repairing onboard audio

Interesting, maybe both Nvidia and AMD and others should rethink how their websites work, because the system used on the VIA website is quite similar to the one used by almost all manufacturers for many years. For me, and I guess, many others, it is a normal system. And the issue of having different …

Re: Is the interest in retro PC hardware decreasing?

Well, I have a 17 inch FD Trinitron and I haven't used it in years, it takes up a lot of space, and it hurts my eyes, nowadays, I find it hard to imagine how we put up with so many hours with CRTs at 60 Hz; 75 Hz if you had learned anything about refresh rate and 85 Hz if you were lucky enough to …

Re: Is the interest in retro PC hardware decreasing?

in Milliways
Part of the reason why I put aside all the pre-2006 hardware is that I have the impression that collectors, who are only interested in money and speculation, have increased. I have all that hardware in safekeeping and I will never sell it, so as not to give joy to any speculators. That is the …

Re: smallest computer that can run windows XP with supported hardware (especially video card?)

It may not be a limit of the motherboard The power bricks for all HP T6xx/T7xx are rated at 19V, so they do not power PCIe directly. I have two 85W adapters plus one sketchy 90W (no brand on the sticker). All three behave the same way. Like I said, it mostly likely has something to do with semi- …

Re: smallest computer that can run windows XP with supported hardware (especially video card?)

Update on HP T730. Looks it works very unstable with cards that draw 30W+, although I tested it only on Linux, maybe it's better on Windows. Theoretically it should work with 30W cards, but probably very susceptible to transient spikes, which can go beyond that limit. Quadro K620 works without an …

Re: Bought this (Modern) hardware today

I got this motherboard, I was interested in it because of all the connections it has, Floppy, IDE, SATA2/3, USB2/3; what interests me is the floppy drive connection on a fairly modern motherboard, it comes with a FX 6300 which should be pretty good for Win7 32 and XP. I plan to use an M2 SSD, …

Re: Is the interest in retro PC hardware decreasing?

My interest in older hardware has not decreased, it has shifted to the future, for the simple logic that hardware is not a work of art, hardware components deteriorate to a greater or lesser extent, and the prices of hardware from the 80s, 90s and early 2000s is ridiculous. Currently, I focus on …

"Bin store" pickup, (returns lost freight etc) of a Gigabytch GA-F2A55M-DS2 Rev 3.0... BK whopper sammich kind of price. I would not really be interested in FM2, but got an A6-6400K as 10% of an As-Is family variety assortment box the other day, so we'll see what happens. Visually inspection shows …

I bought a Fujitsu D3348-A23 NOS motherboard, added a Xeon E5 2697A v4 128 GB RAM and two 512gb NVME SSDs from Intel. Together with an RX6700 I already had, it's an interesting piece of equipment. Before anyone wonders what happens with the power connections of that motherboard; it is a 12V only …

I would like to think that the intention of the OP is to really find out if there are users from other areas of the planet, it seems that most of us are from America or Europe and there also seems to be quite a few users from Japan, Taiwan and China. If I'm not mistaken, one user on this forum with …
