Well, Gta came with a windows version and an 8bit, 16 bit and 24 bit dos version. i always have played GTA in windows (yes, XP) without trouble. put it up to a high res and put it on frame limiter otherwise your guy will zoom around the place uncontorobly.

I got the game working on xp a few weeks ago without using scummVM. all i did was mess around with the compadibility options for the install exe

tried frame limiter? f11 i think (or f8, i forget... one is resolution the other is frame limiter) and for reference f6 is pause

do you have windows 98? my da was just talking to me about how to dual boot dos and win xp 5 min before i saw this thread. As far as i remember, if you have xp installed you will need to reinstall it (no need for format). but first you need to deleate your windows dir, install win 98 then install xp …
