No, don't bake it. It doesn't help. re-soldering DRAM. You need flux and good solder iron with chisel tip. Only soldering help it. regards matt

Pleas press on DRAM (two below EPROM) and power it -> did change it ? If no -> next step: Press on QFP IC (S3 Chip). Did change it `? It is 100% DRAM Problem , causes damage DRAM or bad solder joint or bent lead. (Your card has many scratch, i wouldn't wondered, if PCB trace is cutted by scratch. ) …

Yes, you remove 8088 from XT and install adapter with cable to 286 accelerator. It accelerate by 286 instead 8088 since you have power it. No special software require. And it can switch back to 8088, if compatiblity issuses is occured. It run not stable, because i have use selfmade cable-socket …

Ok, thanks. It is a bad point of rarely MFM hard disk: No data avaible. hard disk runs really quiet. I am surpised. ST-225 runs like as machine gun.

It is not slow, or ? (40Mhz is not correct, it is 25Mhz ) Really many part broken. Dead 80Mhz xtal mechanical broken 74LS245 2x mechanical broken 33 ohm resistor array many etched pcb trace (nicd-puke) broken keyboard-controller (always freezed by POST 8C or restarting)

Yes, you're right. jumper setting is correct. This board was dead, need replaced 3 IC (one crack by trowing to scrap), two is damaged by leaked battery. Scratch on pcbs.. But now , life is back . Thanks Matt

I have same 286 Board here, but it has PA-2040 and PA-5000 on pcb. Which PA-5000 is overpainted with marker. My PROWTEC PA-2040 is very fast (20Mhz and zero waitstate for DRAM, Landmark-benchmark tell me: i have 27Mhz AT )
