Re: S3 968 Windows drivers

These are regular S3 drivers, but might work for the S3 chip itself at least: https://ftp.zx.net.nz/pub/archive/ftp.dyu.edu.tw/pub/Hardware/vendor/S3/928drv/ Read the 00-index.txt file for details I tried the W950109B.ZIP drivers. Same problem unfortunately. It crashes right after installing the …

Re: S3 968 Windows drivers

Select standard S3 driver and it should work. Unless the card is broken somehow - many Diamond PCI cards with S3 968 are. Yeah, I've tried adding the PC_ID to diamond Stealth 64 VRAM inf drivers (and #9 drivers). It then detected the card but crashed after installing the drivers. I think it needs …

S3 968 Windows drivers

I can't find Win9x or WinNt (or Dos) drivers for this graphics card. In Win98 it shows in device manager as "Standard PCI Graphics Adaper (VGA)". It has been in a neighbors attic since late 1996. https://www.vogons.org/download/file.php?mode=view&id=173733 The brand is Xionics (FCC ID L4D XIP1612 …

Re: Missing conventional memory

I attached the file of the last 8kb of conventional memory. It seems to be 1KB EBDA repeated 8 times. Have no idea what it is, only that this board using a 430fx chipset has MW-DMA2 enabled without any driver loaded in real mode DOS (that can't disabled or enabled in bios). On usual 430FX boards, …

Re: Missing conventional memory

I'm not that experienced with dos and learning as i go, are there any good utils or ways to show what program/rom/software is using conventional memory regions. Even a way in DOS to copy the first megabyte region of memory (0kb - 1024kb) to a file and examine it in a hex editor. To dump the last …

in Windows
As your computer boots press and hold the F8 key. At the menu select command prompt only. Then copy ESDI_506.PDR to WINDOWS\SYSTEM\IOSUBSYS I have used the modified Winme version of ESDI_506.PDR (v1.0 dated 2006-07-21) by LittyX/Lixaanli. It worked with a single partitioned 2TB drive I used as a …

Re: Geforce 7 series backwards compatibility

I though we are talking about refresh rate setting under pure dos, not ntvdm. When Windows are active, then nvidia driver can do various settings on the card so it may then support refresh settings some way/altered by driver. But I wonder if any 7xxx card can set refresh under pure dos... I have …

Re: Super Trace VESA Benchmark

Using an S3 Trio64 2MB (the onboard graphics with an Intel Morrison motherboard 430fx) and a P120-16MB EDO Ram with no L2 cache: Booting to Dos 6.22 Only mode available is VGA 320x200 8bpp - Score is 299 Trio64 doesn't seem to support any vesa modes (the bios it ships with is VBE1.2). I got the …
