Deunan, DMA channel 0 is normally used for memory refresh. googled it, found the song... and it's mentioned on the wiki of the intel 8237.

FYI, Some wide devices need high side termination to be able to use them on a narrow size bus. Good luck finding a cheap one though. 😒

the computer is running at 20 MHz. Placing an fpu or even replacing the cpu with one that is rated for a higher speed is no problem at all.

That main board looks interesting. A 286 I assume? What's the CPU speed? Nice AWE64 Gold and some late era ESS based sound cards. Personally don't care to much about the PCI era and up.
