Re: Can a faster ISA Graphics card be built?

I'd rather see an ISA card with a HDMI or DP out that does internal upscaling to 4k. Actually I'd like that for a PCI card too. Maybe you could even do some post processing on the image for retro visuals. Also make it so you can redefine the amount of RAM it has too for ultimate compatibility …

Re: Can a faster ISA Graphics card be built?

There will be maximum permissible performance metrics tied to the speed of the bus. Short of doing something real extreme, like making said isa card into a system-on-board or 'board based cpu upgrade card', or building it as a radical interposer or something (the latter defacto ceasing to be ISA at …

Re: Worst fastest early 3D cards questions

The thread is very interesting. Any opinions for 3DLabs Permedia 2? Can this one qualify in the category "worst fastest early 3D cards"? I got one recently, but sill have no time to test it in windows 98/xp. Permedia 2 is really disappointing and not really even bad in interesting ways. OpenGL …

Re: Voodoo 2 and artifacts

That screams memory issues. It would be odd for it go from fully functional to this sort of state just getting unseated and moved to a new system but it is almost 30 year old hardware so anything can happen.

Re: Voodoo 2 4444SX

@hard1k Thanks for the kind and funny comment :) @DrAnthony The extra TMU isn't doing anything at the moment, it will need custom drivers for that. As for the FPGA, I don't yet have enough experience to do crazy stuff with it :) @boggsman Hopefully this can be achieved with the extra TMU: SST2_TM. …

Re: Why choose a Mach64 or Rage 2 over Rage 3?

I'm not sure what 5 would be. Rage Fury Maxx or Rage XL perhaps. Apparently it's the gamecube GPU, flipper. I don't think that timeline fits though. The GameCube released in like 2001 and R100 Radeons were out in 2000. Heck, ATI didn't buy ArtX until early 2000 and they were the ones that designed …

20240223_000756.jpg SLI, texture mapping and HDMI pass-through. Quake 2 demo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=poO2yVM8JK4 I'll add later more details about what it took to get it going. At the moment the board has no hardware modifications, it's unchanged :) So now that it's a functioning single …

Re: Rendition Verite Thread

it may be a good idea to boost its vcore to lets say 3.6v. never tried this yet. higher core clock should help a lot. Agreed, 3.6 volts seems reasonable for that node. I know AMD ran their 350 nm K6 at 3.2 and I believe the Riva 128 was rated to 3.6 volts. Granted, different fabs varied a bit in …

Re: Rendition Verite Thread

yes , ok I seen the answer for some of my question here klate so, 65 mhz overclock is strange just a little over a 62Mhz, for some original board use it and it's very reliable without heatsink on some cards (usually colder GPU would overclock far more? ) (or it's the driver issue? bios? power strip …
