Different driver versions appear to not be working properly, might need to get a new install of windows like recommended.

I tried using 175.XX (can't remember exactly not at my system) and it still had the same issues. DVI just works until after BOOT and Windows loads.

I'm getting very similar artifacts on my 486 with a s3 805 vlb. Happens in fallout 1, civ 1' and SimCity 2000. It almost seems like a color thing? I wish I knew how to fix it as I'm running at low res.

Even at 120mhz, I get 74.3 on 3dbench, up from 65.1 on the dx4-100. I do need to be able to use the turbo button for a few games though so I wonder how that can be fixed.

Oh wow I got it to boot at 40mhz 3x Crashes when turning on turbo mode (turning off) Edit: 50mhz gets the disk failure. So so far I can push 120mhz at 40mhz bus out of this thing... Interesting.

Set to wt 3x and it boots now, went to bios and set at something or other from synchro to 14mhz/2 Everything seems to work now? Except sadly no write back Edit: works at 100mhz I mean

What would cause the write back of this board to be bad? I wouldn't be so bent up about it if parts weren't so dang expensive nowadays.
