Re: TinyLlama 3

@Eivind I am both excited and curios about this project. Would you please care to share current status? Not much news to report - haven't really had time to work on this much lately. I'd say the project is 95% done though, so I should really concentrate on getting it across the finishing line! 2025 …

Re: TinyLlama 3

Level shifting wasn't needed before because I fully implemented the VGA functionality on the V4 M4800 (as in it already outputs 5V HSYNC/VSYNC, and has 5V DDC support). Again, this was only for bring-up purposes, so I didn't care if it's not MXM compliant, since it wasn't supposed to be used :) On …

Re: TinyLlama 3

@Eivind No, I haven't sent it yet, it should just work as it has only some minor changes compared to the regular M4800. Yes, the polarity (N/P) is inverted on the regular V4 M4800. For the Llama edition of the board, I'll flip those, and add whatever else is needed to make it behave like the other …

Re: TinyLlama 3

@ahmadexp Those are really interesting results, thanks for testing! I honestly expected none of them would have the VBIOS executed by the system. I can modify this version of the board to make it coexist, if Eivind decides to modify the TL3 to be compatible with DP++ MXM cards. S3.jpg @sdz Seeing …

Re: TinyLlama 3

I should say, nobody knows the names of the icop engineers who designed the modules. The weecee was massively inspired by icops own range of mini PCs. We all stand on the shoulders of giants. That's true! I should also say, I understand if Eivind doesn't feel the same way as me re: the pixel stuff. …

Re: TinyLlama 3

As usual you are spot one. However, since the board to board connector will have more pins that perhaps going to be unused, we can have the all the wavetable UART, line in/out, ISA etc... pins routed and provisioned. What I have in mind is to have sound cards that we can reuse in other projects …

Re: TinyLlama 3

Just came from dusting off my TinyLlama 3 components laying on the corner of my bench... :) How could you have gathered the components needed for the TL3 before I've released any BOMs? :D I have day job running IT projects and Scope Creep is clear risk. Yes, I won't argue with that! However, seeing …

Re: TinyLlama 3

If you choose that route, please consider all kinds of options (with wave table and without) pins so we can come up with all kinds of cool options. What did you have in mind? Whatever MIDI signal is coming out of the sound card is gonna be routed to the CM4 to be synthesized there. Were you talking …

Re: TinyLlama 3

Brain-dump update: - I think I've figured out the cause of the double-press to power on issue, I was asserting/deasserting the PD controller's EN pin, apparently confusing it, instead of just enabling/disabling the main power mosfet. - To solve both issues with power/reset button positions and SATA, …

Re: TinyLlama 3

Well if you had the place, you simple could use 2 sound chips on the bord, 1 for windows and 1 for dos. Maybe if the cpu got a sound onboard, or to use sound chip on the vodoo/vga card, if you don't have the space for it. Under windows it would not care if it's on a other bus than a ISA bus. The …

Re: TinyLlama 3

Been kinda busy these last days, but here's a quick update of my findings: - The TL3.3 board looks alright, it does work (like the previous prototypes) and I can play games on it! :) - The MXM connector works with sdz's Voodoo4 card, I'm getting VGA and HDMI through MXM and out from the respective …

Re: TinyLlama (Vortex86EX SBC)

Hello everyone, I started assembling my TinyLlama 2, can anyone suggest a list of components for the wavetable adapter or at least the values of capacitors and resistors, thanks :) Hey! Not much activity in this thread lately - I myself am mainly focused on the TinyLlama 3 these days (waiting for …

Re: Voodoo 4 M4800

There are many differences... I'm not the right person to answer this question :) For the V4 M4800 Llama edition, I can connect one GPIO of the MCU to the FPGA, so that from the control panel, via the PCIe to PCI bridge-MCU link, it can configure the FPGA for offset fix or no offset fix. This way, …

Re: Voodoo 4 M4800

Regarding the video offset issue of VSA-100 via the digital out port. Under Windows XP SP3, with amigamerlin and SFFT drivers, with Voodoo4 4500 DVI, Voodoo 5 5500 DVI, and obviously the Voodoo4 M4800 (without the FPGA overriding the VSA timings), the issue is present. Regardless of the timings in …

Xargon321 wrote on 2024-10-05, 18:54: is there a list i can get on 🤣? Not yet, I'm still waiting for the first MXM prototype board + graphics card(s). When I'm happy with the results, I'll publish to Github and (most likely) do a list/group order. Subscribe to this thread to stay updated! 😉

Re: TinyLlama 3

Ok, that makes sense. When I think of GPUs for laptop I think of copper heatpipes and vapor chambers. But maybe that's for more recent ones. Also, if drivers are easy to find and not specific Asus or Fujitsu or whatever downloads, then yeah this makes a lot more sense to me. Thanks Even as small as …
