I think it sounds like a good place to start! :) Before I upgraded my retro computer I used a P3 850 100fsb and that was plenty for my gaming needs. If you find it fun or you find yourself needing more later on you can always upgrade. In my opinion its a good strategy to just get started with …

Hi. I havnt given up, just dont have the time at the moment. I still need to get the heatsink off somehow. Havnt tried the freezer thing, but I have tried heting it up and cut the glue with wire and that doesnt work at all. Its really hard epoxy of somekind.

More testing has been done. I cant get the debugging software to ru or output anything. Just get a black screen and nothing more, guess its the same problem as when trying to boot. But! Unfortunatly the main chip is a BGA chip sp no easy way of thesting. So first Ill try to test everything else then some sort of reflow on the main chip might be needed. Never reflow a BGA before, whats the best aproach? As much no clean flux I can fit around the edges and hot air station?

Do anyone know the initialization routine for the banshee? What does the card BIOS check first? And what do the motherboard check for first on the AGP?

Did some more testing. The regulator gives ~1.27v. Some where on the card Im pretty sure there is another bad solder joint. Most of the time the card wont boot, no BIOS message, nothing. But when it boots after re inserting the card a couple of times it all works great until a reboot, same problem. …

I'll check the regulator later today or this weekend. Need to put together a test computer to be able to reach it and probe it properly. C107 maybe looks a bit off but I think it's fine. Multimeter gives continuity but I'll reflow it just in case. Here are pictures of it

I think maybe someone would pay atleast shipping for it to give it ago if you can fish it up from the trash. I dont like the idea of it just being trashed, it could be useful as a donor for someone.

What kind of riser could be used in a case like that? Think I got a HP PCI riser from a old lowprofile p4 motherboard. If needed I could try to dig in my stuff for it.

High 12v amp rating wont create any problem but it wont solve the issue if the 5v amp rating is low either.
