Re: Snark barker troubleshooting

Im usually not a fan of arduino and the whole crappy-but-simple-mentality, but since I probably will never program this controller family again, I went the most simple route I found, which is this tutorial: https://www.instructables.com/Program-8051-With-Arduino/ I didnt use a breadboard for 10 …

Re: Snark barker troubleshooting

I found my solution! For me it was the programmer. I used the Xgecu T48 / TL866II -Programmer that is usually used for EPROMs. Although it showed that the programming worked and could even read back the written data, the Controller just didn't work. I then used an Arduino as a programmer and then …

Is my Disney Sound Source broken?

Hi guys, I recently bought an old disney sound source. I tried it in 2 systems, and in both, it doesen't work. At the start of the PC, the red LED on the speaker lights up until POST is done. When I start Wolf3D, it flashes half a second (together with a silent popping sound from the speaker), but …

Re: Snark barker troubleshooting

Hi, sorry for Hijacking this Post. I have the same issue. I soldered 3 of them (some friends wanted one, too) and the issue is the same with all of them. All parts are ordered from mouser, so I don't expect a broken chip. The controller is a AT89S51-24PU. I programmed it with the classic Xgecu T48 …

Re: Problems with SB Pro 1.0 CT1330A

So i stripped my config.sys and my autoexec.bat to the bare minimum. I added the SET BLASTER=A220 I5 D1 T2 line as suggested. My SBPRO 1.0 is jumpered IO_SEL 22X, INT SELECTION IRQ5, DMA SELECTION DRQ1 DACK1, JYEN NC, PC SPK NC, RSPK EN jumpered, and AUDIO PWD is jumpered second and third from the …

Problems with SB Pro 1.0 CT1330A

Hey guys, I recently bought a Sound Blaster Pro 1.0. I Installed it in my DOS 6.22 PC and tried it. I get the basic Adlib sound from games, but there is no digital playback and most games don't recognize a Sound Blaster at all, only an Adlib. There is no conflict with IO adresses, Interrupts or DMA …

Re: Looking for IBM Music Feature Card owners

Thanks for the reply! Did you already correct the error on ZD1 in your schematic/board? What was the error? Interesting find with the delay loop. So they already knew this problem. Where did you find the 11.8MHz crystal? They seem impossible to find ... Oh, and where is this 3 pin filter capacitor …

Re: Civilization 1 Intro Sound Blaster Issues

I found that using the civ sound tool (that was not originally supplied with the game but released later) and changing the sound to the now available SB16 output gives the correct intro, although it sounds different from the Adlib/SoundBlaster-Option. It's more polyphonic and the clicking sounds are …

Re: Civilization 1 Intro Sound Blaster Issues

Thanks for the long answer. Of course comparing an OPL-generated music to a MT-32 looks invalid, but my point is: from the MT-32 version you can derive if the high pitched notes at the start are the intended sound or not. My SB16 is a CT1740, DSP version 4.05, so real Hardware OPL, although OPL-3. I …
