Re: TinyLlama (Vortex86EX SBC)

The new board and case looks great! Its the complete package now. Looking forward trying both out. I tried out a bunch of different PCI graphics cards for fun. A few worked OK and some had the exact same freezing issue with 640x480 and above resolution in games like quake and duke3d that I saw on …

Re: TinyLlama (Vortex86EX SBC)

Purchased one of the AST1300 miniPCIe cards to try out or use as a spare. It shows on the system as: AST1300/2300 VGA True Color Graphics and Video Accelerator VBIOS Version 0.93.08 DRAM Size: 64MB It works good and shows 50FPS (1484 realtics) in doom benchmark. And 32FPS in Quake benchmark. And …

Re: TinyLlama (Vortex86EX SBC)

Finished making a case for my board. Posted the files here https://www.printables.com/model/362273-tiny-llama-x86-case if anyone wants to modify it or print. Huge learning curve figuring out 3D printing and cad but it was a fun journey. I can just play SimCity 2000 for hours on this thing. It sounds …

Re: TinyLlama (Vortex86EX SBC)

I am really liking the updated board! I think I fixed my board as well. I damaged my 3.3v regulator so soldered in new one and it boots now! Printed my case for the 3rd time. Its getting there. Not sure what revision I am on at this point. Will need to lower VGA port 1mm possibly. Its really close …

Re: TinyLlama (Vortex86EX SBC)

So my board booted up fine. Flashed BIOS and installed FreeDOS. Went to flash the CS4237B and it couldn't find it. So I went to re-do my soldering on it. When I did I think I accidently bridged pins 45 and 46 (VD1 and DGND1) when I reflowed things and didn't see it right away. And afterwards the …

Re: TinyLlama (Vortex86EX SBC)

I think my case size should just fit 100x100 by mounting the fan somewhere else or omitting it. Great news about less soldering, but I think that is half the fun as well. That looks soooo good! :D What CAD software are you using? I wanna make one when you're finished! Just gotta find a filament …

Re: TinyLlama (Vortex86EX SBC)

Not exactly, but it'd be more useful than what I suggested but in the meantime maybe this could be done Quite a novel idea, Deksor! :) But unfortunately this could not easily be implemented with the current rev1.1 of the board. That said, revision 2.0 will have a HIDman built in. A prototype of …

Re: TinyLlama (Vortex86EX SBC)

Does anyone have a spare Vortex86EX SOM module they would like to sell to me? I contacted DMP in Taiwan and they are 6 months out on the next batch. Thanks I have one extra. Let me know if you are still looking for one. Still not enough posts for me to message you. Maybe just email me @ my GMail: …

Re: Hardware you wish you'd never bought.

in Milliways
New PSU's that don't have enough watts and amps on the 5v rail to handle old machines like Athlon XP's. They don't make them like they used to! Lately my go-to has been finding new old stock PC Power & Computing power supplies from mid 2000's.
